Looking for an Easyrig or a suitable alternative for my Ronin + Epic setup. I recently saw an Easyrig style vest with built in vertical stabilisation going for something ridiculous like $699 US. I can't seem to locate it again though (probably dreamt it) Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap alternatives, or seen any good deals getting around? Any info/help would be great.

the item you saw is a rip off of our original patented design Serene arm from Flowcine, as well as a rip off of the original easyrig.Do not but copy cats tat violating patents and the hard work of companies that try to innovate so you can have a good product. All those copy cats come with out support nor work well and they put your thousands of dollars equipment in danger. If you cannot afford the real deal, there are many other original bodymount systems in the market .

Kind regards

Thanks for the heads up Constantine. Your Serene Arm product looks amazing. Unfortunately for me, I can't justify the price for what I do (but I can see it's value). Vertical stabilisation isn't too much of an issue for me, it's more to alleviate all the lower back pain that I'm sure isn't doing and favours to my future self.

The Easyrig is overpriced, plain and simple. I'm looking for something similar, but perhaps a newer more ergonomic design. Any experience with other products, anyone?

Ready Rig is a good product with good value and low price, all rigs have the pros and cons, but once you get yours you ll get around to work with the problems and resolve. cheers.

Hey Lucas

Try this http://www.atlascamerasupport.com

Its a very simple,un complicated, quick to setup and most importantly its brilliant at what it does..... I use one every time I have to break out the ronin.

They do various pay loads depending on your setup and I have to say that now my ronin firmware all seems to be behaving itself - to have a comfortable rig really does mean that I can completely concentrate on the shot and not worry about keeping an eye on the technology ..... Nice!!!!

2 rod system heavy weight $749
2 rod system Ultra heavy weight $749

and if you cannt work out which is best for your setup they do combo pakages $949

Been looking for a reasonable solution myself, aside from the easyrig the Steadicam Steadimate looks to be great however the actual price and availability seems to be a bit of a mystery. I emailed tiffen a couple of weeks ago to get specifics and have not heard back from them.

I bought Chris Armor man II... It´s the best thing I bought in a long time. it makes ronin work a breeze. I can shoot a 512Gb mag one take with out much stress on my back and the whole mag is steady. I actually tested doing it, walking around the block filming my cats running around and the whole 40 minute take was smooth as silk. Not only that I can also pull focus on my bar mounted dji focus controller, pick my nose and do all kinds of things with both my hands as the system is just levitating in front of me. Compared to the easy rig setups I tested the armor man II is simply in a different league.

But also nice to have the armor man I handles as those works well for handing over moves while the II is more difficult for those kind of moves.

Ours is now so bussy so I looking to buy a second set.

Is the armorman2 available for purchase? nor seeing it listed on any credible retailers . . .

The EasyRig, while expensive, isn't a one trick pony since it's adaptable to both handheld and gimbals, especially with the Vario 5 which can handle a wide range of loads from 11 - 38 lb with the twist of a screw. Something to consider if budget allows.

there are other things that you need to know about the easyrig + Serene combo - first of all we have excellent customer support , and no matter the country we always here to support you both on line, via skype, answering mails, solving problems, and shipping spares if one needs to same or next day .

The New Vario 5 IS FULLY ADJUSTABLE to ANY WEIGHT CAPACITY gimbal camera combo, or camera single with the twist of an alen key. Also the Serene arm is fully tunable with a twist of a knob from anything from 6-7 kgr to 19-20 kgr. This combo makes the system fully adjustable no matter what your load is , very light, to very heavy weight, meaning that no matter what you upgrade to, from the lightest gimbals to the Maxima MX 35, or even single camera use from 6kgr to 20 kgr for hand held use , you are always inside specs and you can do that with out limitations.

The combo is the only system that can do shots from eye level to the lowest low mode position , and you can walk or run very easily with it having the load on your side, if you add the Puppeteer to the mix then you can just control in single follow mode with just one hand and finger control. None of the competition systems can do that, because they all are in between your legs when you walk and you also need to walk with bent knees tilting fwd to be able to do low mode .

The combo is the only system that allows you to shoot in 90 degree angle in follow mode , single op mode , meaning that you can do circular moves or side tracking moves and pan the total system from +90 to -90 for a total pan range of 180 degrees on the fly, no other competitor system can do that.

we also do a quick release hook for hand offs if one wants to pass the gimbal to another op for that kinda shots that require this.https://www.instagram.com/p/5zhb7GTLeg/?taken-by=flowcine

Finally its the only combo that can do sharp cornering into tide spaces with full control of the camera and gimbal, if the doorways have the normal height. width is never a problem .and we can do that in all modes from eye level to low mode.

Thats a few points that really make a difference from all different support systems and easyrig+serene+Puppeteer 2 axis combo.

of course you have excellent Y axis stabilization as well for steps-walking vertical motion errors.

Kind regards

Alternatives....

Alternatives....

Here is my .02 cents on the Original question in the thread.....

"Alternatives"

I make a steadicam armpost adaptor that works with both ronin and Movi now.

Many of my customers have been using it for over a year now with good results.

https://cinemilled.com/shop/dji-ronin-steadicam-armpost-adaptor/

Now is it a perfect setup? No

but if you already have a vest and an arm......then it gives you a solution that doesn't break the bank.
Around $600ish depends on mount option.

I use my "garfield"(speedrail) mount and have mounted my arm to speedrail and it has done great for vehicle mounted applications.

Another option....

In my view the ReadyRig when paired with our new upcoming PRO Ring system is hard to beat. Especially considering the price. After also being very disappointed with other systems putting on the Readyrig is eye opening. Ask anyone who tried it on at NAB this year.

At the RED booth at NAB few weeks ago we had a Readyrig with our PRO Ring, Ronin-M and the new Raven.

Many tried it out....would be great if they commented...anyway...

The Pro Ring lets you tune and get the whole system balanced so you can tilt with little to no effort in many ways transforming it to one step closer to making it feel like a steadicam when operating. Lets you have very fine control over the frame. You really have to try it to understand.

The Ready rig is $2k and our Ring system starts at $349.99 (plus options) - https://cinemilled.com/shop/ready-rig-gs/

So like I said....for the money....it's hard to beat. Is it perfect? mmm..... there is always room for improvement. But I won't leave home without it now.

Here is a video of Alessandro with a heavy Ronin setup at NAB

Add to that we also make a Handheld mount now for our Readyrig/Pro Ring setup

Here is a video of the handheld mode

Same idea, you can balance the weight and operate easily even with a heavy 30+ F65.

I'm never doing handheld without it anymore.

and one more thing....

Then I even came up with a "jib" mode for this combination of Readyrig/CineMilled PRO Ring

Check it the video to really get what we did

So once again, for the money you can do a lot and the vest and comfort level is huge.

If your in LA you can do demos at Hot Rod Camera.

This was my setup recently on set of a short film I was working on....Red Dragon, Leica, mattebox, Pro Ring and the readyrig.

Low mode is great as you dont have to bend over much(I only have 16" tubes, if I had the 30" I wont have to bend over at all...)
