  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Early Adopters...

I think this is the best way to look at this! If the first hundred or so believers did not step up, life would be much different right now for all of us. And those of us who came after only added to that. I'm not sure how big the actual group of "early adopters" is, probably 2200 RED One #'s or so... All I know, is that RED has been, and continues to be, the most lucrative scam I've ever invested in. :)

and look at all the businesses started or saved because of the RED. Accessory companies, software companies, services...

My time on REDUSER educated and inspired me to create VIZZYWIG and FAST CAMERA for iPhone. Thanks Mr. Jannard...Thanks Guys!

It boggles my mind how negative some people are. I hope I never have the displeasure of working with them. But I do hope I have the opportunity one day to cross paths with the many visionaries and talent that luckily outweigh the downers. Go team RED :-)

These went up in our lobby in May of 2006. So many people said it was a scam and were shocked we gave RED any money.

I was a 2nd generation filmmaker and a disillusioned film school drop-out. When Jim made the offer, I jumped at the chance and placed my deposit. (Eventually, even my dad purchased a Red One.) I had started making films with super 8, then Hi-8 and eventually 35mm, but nothing in my creative life felt as good as having that tool in my hands, it was magical. It felt like a giant F*CK you to all the barriers that existed at the time.

Within the first year of getting my Titanium R and Red One, we found ourselves in Taiwan, shooting on the 100th floor of of Taipei 101. Spectators surrounded us to pose with portraits of the RED. I'll never forget the funny pics of people standing next to it and asking to touch it. There was something about the One- people had heard of it everywhere we went: producers, aspiring filmmakers and fellow geeks seemed to spot it and always approach us with a smile, full of questions and interest.

Way to start a revolution Jim, Jarred and RED.

I not only remember the day I wrote the check, but remember the day i received an email from my gaffer telling me it looks as if the camera I dreamed about was about to come true.
#1188. Wrote the check when the prototypes were but shiney metal wannabes.

I ordered 930 with money I didn't really have... But they were available and the scam took priority.

And even if it hadn't ever showed up, I've never had that much fun for 1k$...

And then she showed up...

Except from when I got my Drum Workshop sponsorship back in the day, I cannot think of an encounter with any other non-human being that has so totally changed the path of my life in many ways, as getting my hands on the RED one early and digging into how that thing works.

Anyone remember this? I do... :-)

Me too. Thank you guys for stepping up for all of us.

Hahaha Its hard to believe how long ago this was.... I remember bringing up red in my film class and having everyone look at me blankly. I remember being warned on the boards that it was a scam... I had no money anyway, but i had a lot of hope. Finally I saw the angry user posts, recognized that they were computer based issues, and decided i could deal with that and found away to get the money.... unfortunately I had no knowledge of NAB at the time, and i placed my deposit 2 days after.... and the wait time went from a few weeks to 6 months. Still I couldn't be happier. Still shooting on the original M sensor. Still love the camera. I may not qualify for early adopter by red, but i adopted a camera i had never seen, touched, or even had the opportunity to play with footage from... and it is still my baby. Thanks Red, from a somewhat blind adopter. Whatever is coming at NAB is exciting, whether i can get it or not.

Wow. Limit 5 per customer. Anyone order 5?

My business partner and I put deposits down for 10 ! ....but, sadly, in the end we decided that the local economy could only support 2 at that time.

...but we got 2!!! :smile5:
