  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dynacore Mini series battery for Red

Can you provide the "MINI" with charge percentage communication with the DMSC, DMSC2 brain?

Not with the current batteries. But then again, I've always been on AB and reading voltage has never been an issue.

I think we should put together a list of people who would buy more dynacore batteries if they got them to show charge percentage. They should know how many sales they're losing. It feels like they don't think it's important and aren't ever going to bother fixing it in new models.

we will launch new versions that can send the %data to RED camera at the end of March.

please note that again, we had canceled US office, during this time, please contact with Dynacore China directly, deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I am very curious about the notion that the batteries supply the info to provide percentage on the new cameras. I have two DSMC2 cameras, and both get powered via the Element Technica Gold Mount plate, either through the base expander, or directly onto the camera body. I have some very old AB Dionic batteries (8-10 years old....so really old) and I know they did not contain any special hardware or firmware for RED cameras. However, they all easily show either time remaining, or percentage. Is there something in the Element Technica plate that achieves this? I would ask the company, but as many know here, they are no longer doing business. I thought (simply because of my experience) that they showed % because RED had improved the camera and its firmware to no longer need the special battery. Thoughts anyone?

These from about 2009-2010 maybe.

Scott -yes it's your plate (maybe there is some hardware capable of sending status in the battery too)

FWIW I have the wooden camera cableless battery plate and it sometimes shows percentage (read as BRICK by the camera) due to some electronics / protocol in the plate.

On dsmc1 I had a dumb gold mount plate (vs smart gold mount plate) so had to learn to read the voltages.)

The PAG batteries (and I imagine OG AB) work the same way talking to a smart plate.

Just some information.

Tried to purchase these and am told that they are out of stock now until at least the end of March. I will definitely give it another go then as they form factor is perfect.

Dynacore will attend to the NAB show this year, we will bring many batteries to the show, we will sell them in the show if anyone wants to buy them in the show please message me, we can provide a better price.

Our booth number is C8539.

Also you can write to lesie1976@dynacore-china.com.

155 Mini's are completely rad - love shooting them run & gun on my epic-w. Kinda feel bad not buying British / local though. Some great companies like DSM & Hawks-Wood who I still will support as much as I can though its a tough climate for British broadcast engineering right now with the Chinese manufacturing getting to the level it is now and with the lower pricing.

Just bought a Dynacore Mini DM95-S for my Epic-W off of Ebay and their dual v-mount charger. Battery seems great - did a recording test and the battery lasted about 70mins (recording at 8K FF, 30fps, redcode 12:1). Need to get a 155 mini but they are sold out till mid-March.

Hi Aaron Nanto

much appreciated for kindly support of Dynacore batteries, please kindly note that we had stop ship product to Kai(US office), if they back to stock in March, they're not Dynacore battery, sorry for the inconvenience brought to you.

I just bought 8 x 155s from china and they shipped without any issues via dhl. Contact them direct and buy with confidence. The minis like all dynas.. rule. I have been using them since 2011.

I feel the same but to be honest, when it comes to batteries HW and Pag are hanging onto prices from the olden days when this tech was cutting edge.

They had some of the mini's at BVE, they were much lighter than i was expecting. The guy also said that the 150 was the same weight as the 95, although not 100% sure about that.

Blueshape have some new minis as well. More expensive but had wifi built in. Yes. wifi. In. A. Battery. I did ask why, i mean i can see some edge cases where you may collectively need to know the power of all your batteries on set but for most people, it's just not necessary.

But those dynacores seem to strike a nice balance.

The upcoming Red ones seem a bit low powered for that shape, although they do fit very well by the looks of it.

cheers

Yep just got back from BVE. Geartek wasn't it? They said they're doing the 150s for £250 or something. I've got the guy's card.

The Blueshapes were nice and cute but to be honest for a non rental house use they are absurdly overengineered and all that wifi stuff is ridiculous when you can just press the button to see the charge. Plus they quoted me £499 + VAT for the 140Wh.

The Dynacore Minis are all I need in a battery to be honest. If Geartek get the ones that send correct info to Reds re % I'll get a peli case worth of them

Yes it was geartek.

They have less that masterful marketing going on. The guy gave me the price list with no contact details on that whatsoever. Once i finally tracked them down via the exhibitor map, cross referencing the stand number. I discover that their web site is underconstruction... minus several million out of 10 for being prepared for the show...

On their list the DM-95S is £195, the DM-130S is £220, the DM-155S is £235 and the DM155A is also £235 - no idea what the difference is between the S and the A version though...

Got any contact details handy?

cheers
Paul

I think it's Sam. He's a lovely guy actually. It's a new company but he has loads of experience running a film rentals shop for many years. PM your details and I'll forward you on his details.
