  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dubai EPIC shooting and other traveling fun

Ted, you are like the guy we all envied who got to go to prom with the hottest girl in school. Thanks for sharing the video. You are having too much fun. :)

glad you all enjoyed the video :-) I've got some more great footage from a few other places along the journey that I'll cut down and post when there's time. (so more goofy iMovie transitions for those that just can't get enough of that stuff :-)

Andrew - when do we all get to see the commercial you were shooting that day?

+ Ted

Ill post it as soon as we get sign off. Think its all done now. Don't know how much Epic got included in the end, but I know there's a couple of shots in there! Will be fun to get people to guess which are MX and which are Epic!

Here's the next behind the scenes vid... from a Coffee shop Istanbul Turkey :-)

a bit more in depth on the menu structures, etc on this video (all still early on, much will enhance and be updated as we continue to update the camera)

Thanks for these videos Ted. It's nice to learn more about the menus and fun watching the reactions of those who are using it for the first time.

I think Scarlet is going to sell like mad everywhere!

One of my friends said these videos are "TED One" and now "TED EPIC" videos!

Handheld

Handheld

Ted, your BTS footage feels very steady. I'm assuming you're doing it handheld. Any tips for a newbie?

Yes, Handheld with a litle 1080p handicam (next round of bts work on the next trip will likely be on Scarlet :-)

I just keep the shots pretty wide and close to the subject, and I used to shoot film and HD for a living, many years ago, so I still kind of remember how to do it a bit...

It's super cool to see you operating the camera as much as when you are in front of it...just so long as you keep talking while you are operating. :)

I do my best to listen to each interview, be it audio or video. You are quite the orator and I take lessons from you. :D I think one of my favorite lines I learned from you and am currently using is "There is a jump from the RED One 4K to EPIC 5K workflow. However, it's not like it's a jump from Moon to Mars. More like one place of the Moon to another place on the Moon."

Keep up the nice work...

Nice! Maybe not the most cinematic footage from a Scarlet that can be produced, but footage from that little guy is great nontheless! Looking forward to your next update! Your interviews and videos are always so entertaining

OK, heres the link to the Ad we were shooting. There are some EPIC shots in there, the rest is "Old School" RED-MX. Feel free to comment, but please be gentle.... ;)

Was a great shoot, and I only wish we'd had the EPIC for the whole thing!

Thanks again Ted.

It's really a stunning spot, Andrew.

Don't try this at home, kids.

Something tells me that a night in the Royal Suite of the Burj Al Arab is more expensive than the Epic-X.
