  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2 Beta Firmware 6.4.21 , Scarlet-W and Weapon MG Spec increases

Is the 6.3.101 stable enough for production?
I've seen some strange thing happening in DNxHD with 3.3.98 (intermittent sound)

Have a question for you. Would it possible to add letter boxing to ProRes/DNX recording in camera. Most editorial system want 1920x1080 full raster editorial dailies and if you are working in other aspect rations other than 1.77, you still need to generate new files for editorial. Would be great if the camera could have an option to record letterboxed versions of the ProRes/DNX files.

The solution I use is 5.5k HD (without look-around) and put frame guide to 1.9.
I also hope there will be more flavor of frame sizes.
 
Patrick, unfortunately you can't use full sensor width without shooting in FF or 2:1 and also, you would not get the on-set framing to editorial, so this doesn't work for Studio or larger production films.

Scarlet-W Gamma Curve - Possible Bug

When I go to Image Pipeline and attempt to change the gamma (IE, REDGamma 2, 3, 4, etc.) I see no difference in terms of how the image is displayed. Curious if anyone else is having this issue.
 
Here is a problem we have with our Epic-W that has a side handle. When using Canon EF lenses, if you change the iris with the thumb wheel on the side handle, the focus wheel loses response. Did anyone else experience this anomaly?
 
Can I make a suggestion for the next update? Please please please please please please please
add a color focus peaking option. I would love to be able to have focus peaking in a red or green color or something other than just the sharpening effect that doesn't work to well for me. This would be a maaaaaaajor plus for us all!

Try the edge detect version. It's the only one I use now.

Agree with this. I use the edge focus thingy but color would help
 
Currently testing v6.4.21 on the Scarlet-W.

Has anyone seen any issues so far with this beta firmware?

+1 with 100x pleases
 
Please make something that the menu becomes faster.
Don't know if that something had to do with the 4,7" lcd but compared to an older red dragon the menu is like 10 times slower.
Really not that nice to select stuff with the touch.
