New Beta Build.

Stand out feature is baked in 3D lut into 2k ProRes and Avid DNxHR/HD files that many of you have asked for.

Enjoy.

is baked in lut in prores only 2k or also 4k?

Great!!

How do we bake it in? I've updated, then tried at both 4k and 2k and it doesn't work. Went to Menu>Settings>Recording>record format Prores and Resolution (both 4k and 2k) with "Baked in settings" set to Primary Only (RWG/Log3G10). That doesn't work, so I'm obviously using the wrong settings.

"Primary Only" is just like previous firmware. Things like ISO and Kelvin are baked in. If you select one of the "All Image Settings" options you will get all the IPP2 color science baked in. Note you can only bake in these settings in 2K.

Got it. I'll try that now. Thank you.

I having been finding when using external LUT baked in the resulting 2k file is different to say if applying that same LUT in Resolve or Premiere etc. Baked in setting are all, as so to include the IPP2 pipeline.
I have tried:
1/ output the Prores 2k files with all settings baked in and applied 'LUT A' in post, that works perfect.
2/ output the Prores with all settings baked and 'LUT A' also loaded and selected in camera, the result is much stronger and had lost its charm.

So I though maybe have a post LUT that is created by using the transform IPP2 luts that match the in camera IPP2 pipeline selections and then the colour adjustment lut as a secondary. And then load in the camera LUT that just uses the secondary colour part and not the transforms as they are in camera and baked in already.

But its still produces a different image.

I can monitor with a LUT using the in camera IPP2 pipeline and then get the same look in post using the monitor lut but I really would like a couple of additions.

1/ Burn in all settings i.e. the IPP2 pipeline selections.
2/ Burn in all settings, the IPP2 pipeline selections + internal LUT.
3/ Burn in all settings, the IPP2 pipeline selections + only monitor internal LUT no burn that in.

Hopefully the baked in part will get fixed unless I'm missing something?

Cheers, James

One advantage of having this be only 2k and not 4k is that it is compatible with all the speed settings at smaller sizes (eg 6k image capture). I did find one glitch which is when I tried 8k full combining both R3D and ProRes, the record button locked up yellow and required a reboot. With 8k 2:1 it works fine and anything smaller. I find the high dynamic range version is very flat, almost log looking and probably would require additonal editing, the standard dynamic range gives an image that can be used right out of the camera. I also have tried a variety of contrast and roll off settings baked in, and so far, the medium/medium seems most pleasing for baked in ProRes. I am sure it depends on the situation. The ProRes 2k 444 alone (without R3D) gives well over 2 hours of recording on a 480 card, which is kind of nice. And the 8k (or 6k with speed) image converted in camera down to 2k is really quite beautiful if you do not need higher resolution in the end. Quite happy with this development! I have not found any other problems with the beta so far.
