DSMC Side handle power

Hello everyone. Quick question. Does the camera power the side handle if the brain is plugged in via a wall or does the side handle need a redvolt to function? I tried googling but was not able to find the answer. Thanks in advance.

The camera will provide power to the DSMC Side Handle and it's LCD screen when powered via battery or DC In. The DSMC SIDE Handle can also power the camera if a REDVOLT is placed in there.

Damn. That means i got a lemon side handle. Darn you ebay. Thanks phil. Do you know of any troubleshooting before i return it?Basically, I installed the handle with the brain turned off then powered it on after installing the handle. But i am having no luck with the handle working. Im about to check the firmware. Maybe the problem is there. Thanks again!

The camera will provide power to the DSMC Side Handle and it's LCD screen when powered via battery or DC In. The DSMC SIDE Handle can also power the camera if a REDVOLT is placed in there.

One thing you could try is force-upgrading the firmware. The SH runs it's own firmware and gets updated from time to time. Maybe your's is running on a version that doesn't work with the main-firmware running on your Scarlet-brain.

Did you buy it used? If not, contact your Bomb Squad Rep. On your side you can inspect the contacts and maybe give them a wipe with some rubbing alcohol. Outside of that there's not much you can do.

As I have messaged you, Version 5.3 of the dsmc upgraded the firmware in the side handle and your body needs to be updated to 5.3 or later for them to work together. I even passed on the link on the fitting red support page. I would be happy to refund you if you cannot figure it and send it back to me.
