  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Release Build v6.2.55

Sorry guys. I spoke too soon. Horizontal tearing remains, sprung up again last night.. Is anyone else having this problem? I am jamming TC and GEN LOCK from a Denecke SB-T, and observing on the SDI OUT port to a small HD 702 bright. Seems to start on a resolution change (as described in the firmware update log) and only when syning to the external reference. Seems like they may be improperly aligning the SDI OUT clock to the internal epic's clock instead of the GEN locked one?? Camera is un-usable when it starts doing this.

Anyone else having this issue? Happens consistently after about 4-5 minutes of recording. Unplugging/reconnecting the 4.7" LCD fixes the issue if I am using the WC top plate and LEMO Adapter B. Unfortunately if the monitor is directly mounted to the camera powering off/on seems to be the only way to fix it. Doesn't affect the recording.

I couldn't find the Calibration Capture option under Settings > Calibration > Sensor, did I miss something? On an Epic Dragon.
 
Flopping between percentage and weird red colored voltage readout :( mainly the latter

i have the et gold mount plate and hypercore switronix

If you want to create a new black shade:
1. goto: Menu > Settings > Maintenance > Calibrate > Sensor
2. press the "Create..." button under the "In Camera" list

I've been having this issue for years. Sent in numerous tickets. No fix. A reboot cures my woes but it is still embarrassing. Producers shake their heads and mumble, "Red."
 
I have the same problem, but just on one of my monitors. Independ of camera.
One of my Red Pro 5' LCD does it on Epic-X, Dragon and WEapon CF.
The others dont do it.

I think its a problem with those LCDs.
Does this appear on the new 7's?

Would be a reason for me to switch to the new ones.

Yeah this has been happening to my Epic and Epic Dragon for years. It's normal behavior. Re-Cycle power and it should fix it, until it happens again.
 
Not sure if it's the same issue, but when I have tearing (usually vertical), a pop into and out of focus magnify usually sets it straight. I have focus magnify mapped to A on my side handle, but I think it's defaulted to the physical "power" button the edge of LCD screens...

Depends what you're doing exactly.

This screen-tearing problem seems similar to the one where the monitor would go solid white on one half of the screen.

In both cases, I've seen it correct itself after switching to clean/full-screen view (or whatever it's called), then back to having the graphic overlay. That would be the easiest thing I can think of to try if you can't stop recording at the time.

I think it works because it pauses the screen for a moment and allows the screen to refresh/re-sync/reset itself. There are other ways to make the monitor do that too (eg. popping in and out of magnify view like Mike.P suggests, or unplugging/re-plugging the monitor), but changing to 'clean' view for a moment seems the least disruptive.

Yes and no. It doesn't affect recording but affects the screen. Usually you'll seen it on boot up or a significant setting change. So important takes or live events you should see it before rolling.
 
GUys I have a question for the Red Code, insitalled in my Imac. This plug in helpe to make sure you can see the red files in fcpx, and I understand now is waiting the update...but...how this can be updated? If I go in the system preference ok...Isee the plug in there...but, for example if I want to remove it...where it is??...lol....and how this can be updated? I don't see any update section...lol...sorry the question...I know looks stupid but are days I am trying to understand...lol...thanks!
 
Starting getting diagonal tearing on my 7" carbon fiber on a Scarlet-W... No external monitor feeds going on. Had to repower to fix the problem, which was a drag since it was a live performance...
 
for a quick fix for frame tearing I magnify and go back. it's not ideal but quicker than reboot. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it....
 
ive been talking to support all day and we did find a bug, for me its with the 4.7 inch, when you are in 4khd or below and using auto hide menu, and then you magnify, you get a diagonal frame tearing and even if you go back its still there, when you record its even in the playback, but not on the actual footage. the only fix is to reboot. they found that they were getting the same problem, were a bit surprised they were, but at least it wasnt my hardwares problem. the engineers are notified of the issue and are working on a fix.
