  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC EPIC / SCARLET Release build 5.1.51 and Beta 5.2.16

both, started with 5.2.16 and thought maybe is a firmware problem, so loaded 5.1.51, but still nothing, no idea what the problem could be
 
Don't know if this is simply an effect of ambient temperature, but on 5.1.51, the camera seems to reach operating temp much quicker than it did on 5.1.50.
 
Possible bug; on 5.1.51 when updating a preset, the current settings aren't visible until you add something else in, then they all appear
 
Some problems I recently ran into with the latest release build on my Epic-X.
- "Jerky" video output after camera goes into sleep mode and is woken back up. Almost like every other frame is skipping back. Seemed to happen every time the camera went to sleep. Video output went back to normal with a reboot and I ended up not using sleep mode to keep from constantly rebooting.

- A weird artifact on the left side of the image in the video output after toggling 1:1 focus enlargement. Almost like 1/3 or 1/4 of the screen got stuck in 1:1 and the other side returned to normal. Went away after toggling 1:1 on and off again. This only happened once.

- Focus confirm "meter" (pie, bar etc.) worked inconsistently. At first it seemed like it would only work with my Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Art lens. The "meter" didn't react at all when used with a Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 and a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, even when the lenses were stopped down to f/5.6 and with a high contrast pattern in the center focus area. At some point the meter stopped working even on the Sigma. Didn't have time to test this further, but I have previously had a problem with the Canon EF-S 17-55, where touch focusing would refuse to focus anywhere but to the closest focus distance. The autofocus problem has only happened once and was fixed with a reboot. The focus meter problem stayed even after multiple power downs.
- Camera does not switch to side handle battery if it loses DC power. Power switching works the other way. I remember this being a problem before, but I was under the impression that this was supposed to have been fixed with a firmware update at some point?

I wish I'd had time to take screenshots or video of these, but we were in a massive hurry and had to keep shooting. I don't have the cards or camera with me now either, as they went straight out to another shoot. I'll try to reproduce these and get the log files when I get the camera back.
 
Sorry if I'm a bit slow to the show but is there no DRAGONcolor or Red Gamma4 in camera yet?

DRAGONcolor and REDgamma4 are certainly in there. I use it nearly everyday.
 
On this particular upgrade or should it of been available on 5.1.50?

I've only just got back from shooting on the good old Scarlet and now have time to play and prep my Dragon.
Current firmware it came with was 5.1.50. But for some reason I am locked out of downloading the Epic Dragon Firmware.
Red Europe is closed for the day now. Any help would be great.
 
This thread got my hopes up! LOL

Since this will require an new SDK, and all apps to be updated, I want them to take their time and get it right. No need to rush it. While Assimilate will probably have a new build of Scratch out within a few days of the SDK, Adobe could take much longer. Adobe took ~two months to release an update that supported the last OLPF change for Dragon. To be fair, they have a large audience and a complex product.

Maybe you are running only the release build, not the beta build. It is shipped with the release build. Thus far, DRAGONcolor is only in the beta build.

Yes. Only had the camera two weeks, so not a lot of history. But so far, so good. You need to contact your bomb squad rep to get access to the beta build.
