  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon upgrades

Not that my opinion matters but I think this makes a rally great line in the sand for knowing which cameras do what. I'm guessing that weapon will not have a scarlet variant which bodes well for being the top tier product. I think I'm well outside the market of being able to buy into it anytime soon but sure can't wait to rent one.

Any chance scaler mx to epic mx upgrade prices will drop after the mx to dragon upgrade ends?

- HW-ized A.D.D
- wider dynamic range
- and much more nice assumptions enabled with increased processing power

As I just said to the tother Alexa Mini thread... Specs and Body form are great... Finally a great job on ARRI... But not even close to DRAGON... Wait till "WEAPON" comes... :)

We are all Red owners here, and we love our dear Red cameras, but come on... This Alexa mini (in Carbon body), which records Raw internally in Cfast, in an Epic style body with the famous Alexa look and at 30k $, holly f**ck, it's huge !!!! This Nab is gonna be a war, i understand now why Jarred called the new Red the "Weapon"..

I'll only answer this, then I am done with Alexa Mini here... Don't wish to further derail this great thread...

It's not 30 but well over 40k (US) 38k EURO...

But yeah... Read the specs well, and after that I won't give it even a second look against DRAGON... Not even worth making a comparison when "WEAPON" comes.

Depends how you look at. They didn't say they are abandoning the Alexa form factor, they are just adding to the options available to get as many shots done as a production might need. The Amira is a fun camera to pick up and throw on the shoulder. RED offers modularity.
 
About the Alexa mini (last tim i talk about that in this thread), it's a "Cinema camera", Feature films are 24 or 25 fps, no need more than that for Cinema. So the real advantage here is the Arri look in a tiny body..

Anyway, i' m really curious about this new Red Weapon, things are becoming really interesting.. Jarred should give news pretty soon imo..
