Dragon Update

And since Ketch is asking, are there any plans for let's say "carbon/magnesium" REDVOLT XL module and LCD/EVF? Hehe ;-)

Well, since we are talking about PL Magnesium mount... Are there any plans for "MMM"? (Magnesium Motion Mount)... ;)

Epic upgrade to Carbon Dragon. That's a cool option. Any idea of the cost?

People upgrading to Carbon Dragons do not get to bump in line.. that would be disrespectful to everyone already in line, And I think people's feathers are already up a bit by all the brand New Carbon Dragons jumping the velvet rope.

As mentioned the process is likely to be: Your number comes up for your upgrade as normal, you get your email to send in your camera, and at that time you probably will be given a link to opt-up to Carbon. We also likely will let you guys pre-order the Carbon Upgrade though the store or your Bomb Squad Rep ahead of time to make sure the paperwork part of this upgrade process doesn't slow down your upgrade turn around.

I can pretty much guarantee that at that time will be the best time to upgrade to a Carbon with the best price because of the cost savings of doing everything together. The price to upgrade your Epic Dragon to a Carbon Dragon later down the road will most definitely be higher.

Don't be surprised if the above all changes 4 times over till we lock it down next Friday... and Brent is going to kick my ass for giving out these premature details, But I figure since this was your guys idea you can chime in during the decision making process... Just dont get bent out of shape if we completely ignore any or all of your suggestions :)

...

That's reassuring. Thanks

Now, can we get an update on where Graeme (he is still at RED isn't he?... haven't seen any posts from him in a while.) is in locking down the Dragon color science?

Separate Purchase... There are a good lot of Epic Owners out there ( still photography etc ) that don't use PL mounts.

Hi Jarred,

Do you have price points, for the Mg++ mount and the Mg++ Mini/Current SSD?

Thank you very much

Fury

Based on Jarred's comments above, it's not a shortcut or will not have a speed advantage. Your camera comes up for upgrade, you send in for Dragon sensor, then have the option to do the Carbon upgrade at that time.

Anyway, I guess we'll see what the final details and costs are. I'm definitely interested, I think a lot of us are. But price vs. practicality of the upgrade will definitely have to be weighed. All I know is that I should've bought Dragon Carbon the second it was announced and then I could put my EPIC-M up for sale when time comes to send it off for Dragon. I probably would've come out ahead on that one. Not so sure it would work that way now, probably better to just wait for my M to get upgraded and if the extra cost to Carbonize it makes sense, I'll do that too...

Hi Jeff,

I have concluded this, months ago and been lately posting it, but you are the 1st poster, whom I have seen agree with me, in concept. I also factored the warranty differential, the media and SSD module costs and Armour options, RED's reported , out of warranty history notwithstanding. I demurred, regarding emotional attachments to cameras, in hand.

Thank you very much

BTW, I just fill this is the perfect time as any other to add that while we're asking for this and that since some cool stuff recently announced and some showed and sold, on the contrary believe of some which say that DRAGON is the last of RED...

I see NAB 2014 as the absolute BIGGEST year EVER for RED, and this time I'll not miss NAB even if I am atop the world's tallest mountain, I'll find a way to come down form it and get my rear to Vegas... Promise!!

And... I'll bare gifts... ;)

Speaking of carbon fiber and weight, I'd love to have a light weight "travel" monitor, I'd even be OK with a slightly smaller one, 4 inch or something for backpacking, outdoors etc. the current Red touch is pretty hefty. Better yet, a cool iPhone interface would be awesome but maybe that's a bit far off.

Upgrade

Upgrade

Hi,

Now for the big question.....are the upgrades ON or when can we expect them to start?

thanks

Harcharan

I can't imagine the price being any different than the surcharge Carbon Dragon owners paid over purchasing a regular Epic-M... In that case, approx. 10K for the sensor and 20K for the Carbon/Magnesium upgrade... THAT'S what everyone should be expecting...
Sounds like it is a great time to be a new second-hand epic owner thank you Christopher. So with my epic-x I pay $9500 to upgrade to a Dragon Epic, and then I pay an extra $20,000 to upgrade from my now upgraded dragon into a carbon dragon? So total price is $29500 to go straight from my used epic-X to a new carbon dragon? Did I get that right?

Unofficially, best horoscope guess- right one:)

I would say 20 000 for both sensor and carbon chassis would be a fair price. EDIT, of course if it was 15000, it would be a no brainer! :)
Christopher said $10,000 for sensor plus $20,000 for the carbon upgrade and Jarred seems to have agreed with him without commitment. The difference of price between normal Epic Dragon and Carbon Dragon on RED.COM is $21,000 alone so I think you are dreaming if you think the price is going to be $20,000 including the sensor. That would be like getting the Dragon sensor upgrade for free.

Yep, dreaming! Actually just voicing what I could afford right now :)

I am dreaming about the DRAGON UPGRADE only now.....
