  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon Takes Flight...

Huh? Sun doesn't change light output season to season. Only thing that would affect it is clouds (none between camera and sun for this shoot) and haze (less in northern Cali than southern). So arguably, sun would be brighter in these shots than summer sun in SoCal.

The sun right now in Northern California is pretty weak. We'll know for sure in the summer how the Dragon handles shooting into the sun.

The earths orbit is elliptical, "the sun is brighter in the [northern hemisphere] winter because the earth is closest to the sun in January."

I thought it would be July and you believe the level of brightness off the sun is the same year round?

There is also more haze and particles for the sun to pass through when at a lower angle in the sky (winter). Diffusion.

This changes in the summer? Arguably...winter sunset is brighter. Anyways, distracted this thread too much as it is. I personally think you can look at the footage as a proper "shooting into the sun" test. (You said you would wait until the summer...indicating that this isn't a proper test of that)

Andree, you said it perfectly!!! If i'm out to Switzerland in the near future ill buy you a round!

Forget everything from 35mm adaptors to sliders, jibs and steadicams to 4k to 5k to Mōvi to… whatever…

All you need is a 6k raw shooting carbon fiber camera and a helicopter with a gyro. That's basically it, and you're covered.

Looking at it that way, it's a pretty short list.

=)

Anyway.... Looking forward to more testing to come and hoping for a really fantastic image acquisition tool with this new Dragon sensor.
