  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon HDRx Nature tests

Lugged a 33ft. Came TV crane + 200lbs of counter weights into the location :) Quite a bit of work but that shot will always make me think it was worth it!

thats what i figured you did lol
ohh the sacrifices for filmmaking...

Hi Luke

Whats the slowest shutter speeds you've been able to shoot HDRx on ?

Thanks for posting, I love the Forrest clip, it's deceptively beautiful.

Nice shots. Some of my first shots when I got my Dragon last year were at Bodie ghost town out the windows, hdrx definitely saved the shot with deep interior shade and super bright exteriors.

I did the same HDR thing in Bodie a few years back in 3D for the Discovery Channel when it was just beginning it's experimentation with 3D. I used a Canon 7D on a rail and moved it 1 inch to the right 3 different positions for the right eye and the first position for the left eye. I was able to get perfect exposures from indoor to outdoor with HDR. Like you were I'm sure, I was warned not to touch anything once inside a building or face a fine and immediate expulsion from the park. Fun stuff though.

That sounds fairly tedious :) I'm sure the results were worth it though!

I was surprised they let me fly a drone around to be honest!

AMAZING! can't wait for you to post a grading process or something to see how you colored/blended in post. Going to hawaii next month and brining my Dragon and now i'm excited to shoot some HDR!

Thanks, I'm actually in the process of learning how to grade for HDR from Dolby. Won't be able to post any info on that though. I can certainly talk a bit about what I did for this video if you liked the results though?
