feel like my blacks are disappearing after i upload to youtube and vimeo. anybody compensate for this in color? or is there a way to prevent this on upload via compressor settings?

by disappearing i mean they are getting darker, which leaves overall color looking darker. Great export of new video, then after youtube gets it, 25% darker. wth?

Domenic,
What are your export settings? Generally YouTube likes H.264 the best as far as codecs go. What format did you start in?

Apparently this is quite the issue for many people. Here is a windows work around I found, and here is a thread about the issue if you want to read a little more about other peoples problems.

You're noticing the gamma shift problem, the worst and (apparently) un-fixable problem with OSX. I don't know if there's a web page that tells you what buttons to press to correct the issue in FC7 or CS5.5*, but it sure makes rendering another fun problem solving adventure!

*When I render using Vimeo preset with Media Encoder, the gammas are boosted such that the blacks are saved when your video transcoded for web. Not sure if the presets account for this or if it is just coincidence.
