I was looking for some random stock RED footage to mess with and came across footage-online.de for it.

I got an email recently that I thought was pure promotion but there was this line in it:

"In addition the turning away of Apple from pro-formats such as RED-RAW gives us greater importance on Adobe"

Full email text:

Dear media professionals,

as you probably have noticed Adobe fully supports the native workflow or RED cameras up to a resolution of 5k.
In cooperation with us (FOOTAGE-ONLINE.de) Adobe demonstrates this workflow by using our RED footage
to show the great and easy features of R3D-handling in Premiere and After FX. In this process the
RED-files are edited in the timeline without transcoding and converting them. Even the direct access to the
metadata of the RED RAW files is easy to control.

Fabian Benninghoven & Thomas Pohl (CEOs of FOOTAGE ONLINE GmbH):
"Of course we`re proud that Adobe uses our Footage as part of its presentations. We ourselves have been
using the CS-Suite in our studios for many years as a main tool of our postproduction. According to this fact
the cooperation appears quite obvious for us. In addition the turning away of Apple from pro-formats such
as RED-RAW gives us greater importance on Adobe. The RED-Workflow of CS 5.5 eases the creative work
with this high-class format enormously."

For further technical information and questions concerning the content don`t hesitate to ask us.

Many greetings from Frankfurt

Your FOOTAGE-ONLINE team

Neither FCP 7 nor FCP X directly access R3D files.

While Apple were the first to support RED proxies, they are still not supporting R3D (raw) files. All the other major editing system vendors (plus many smaller ones) now allow editing with the native R3D format. Apple seems to have other priorities. Both Avid and Adobe run special promotions on their editing packages for existing FCP customers.

Does anyone remember editing in avr 1 and avr 2 resolution on AVID before adobe or Apple got in the game?

RT can be done by anyone if you drop the resolution enough.

All I can say is this.

That reads like a pure marketing statement after Adobe got together with am upstart stock footage outfit and both need to promote themselves while stepping in someone else to do it.

It's such obvious bashing it actually makes me loose respect for both companies.

I can expect this from people on forums but for a company to professionally represent itself this way just demonstrates a kind of smarmy low life quality even if it is all true.
