What are the pros and/or cons comparing these codecs? I don't use avid however premier supports the DNxHR codecs now.

The reason I ask is the Epic - W can record 4k up to 120fps with DNxHR but maxes out at 29.97 if you want ProRes. Just trying to figure out the difference, if any?

That would be a surprise if you could do 4K at 120fps to DNxHR.

The actual specs are:

4K
DNxHR HQX at 4K (4096 × 2160) 12-bit up to 29.97 fps
DNxHR HQ, SQ and LB at 4K (4096 × 2160) 8-bit up to 29.97 fps

2K
DNxHR 444 at 2K (2048 × 1080) 12-bit up to 120 fps
DNxHD 444 and HQX (1920 × 1080) 10-bit up to 120 fps
DNxHD HQ, SQ and LB (1920 × 1080) 8-bit up to 120 fps

There's pros and cons to both, but most of it comes down to workflow. For instance Avid DNxHR/HD can be encoded and decoded on Windows, while ProRes isn't exactly easy on that front.

LOL I actually just read you new chart which sparked this question to begin with. Am I misreading it off you site?

It appears there was a ghost in the machine.

Reload please :)

Had my hopes up there for a second. Lol just like my web guy. "Did you clear your cache and refresh? weird?"

Thanks Phil! Your charts are invaluable. Much appreciated.

Actually saw the same ghost about a month back and had to double take, then cross-reference the operations manual to get a good handle. I was about to jump straight to DNx across the board...
