So I recently decided to jump to Premiere Pro (cs6/CC) from Sony Vegas 13. Working with RED now and Vegas just doesn't get the R3D color science/space. I noticed I was able to render DNxHD at 4096X1708 (4k WS) without any problems from Vegas. I can't seem to get it done on Premiere. I am able to input the resolution values but what I get is a 1920 x 1080 filled out and deformed aspect ratio output. I can render 4k using h.264 but It's an inferior and not master format. Does anyone have this issue or heard anything about this sort of thing? QuickTime is the container (.mov)

DNxHD isn't setup to do 4K resolutions, so if Vegas is rendering 4K files, then even if they work with vegas, there is a bug in Vegas, rather than there being any problem with Adobe Premiere. I imagine those 4K DNxHD files would not behave correctly on other systems.

Avid just recently announced DNxHR which is coming soon and supports 4K resolutions.

Can't wait to see it in action.

FWIW, I bought cineform (the $250ish version) and use cineform.avi with vegas and it's working real good for me. I'm rendering out of resolve to 2400 X 1350 , it can also go up to 4K is needed. hope this helps.

The 4k renders work fine even have some of the videos on YouTube. But the data rate is the same as a 1080p so I take its not at its optimal quality.
