  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wanted to get a little informal poll going- which nMP setup did you pick up and what are your thoughts? Do you wish you had gone with more/less?

Please keep this thread clean of hackintosh/machate/nMP are a waste, etc. Thanks!

Maxed out 8 core here. You never regret having more, so yeah, I wish I would have gotten the 12 core. It might only be a difference of say 2 fps (and I'm not saying it is), but if that difference is between 22 and 24fps, that matters as you'll want real time playback. That said, I do love my setup, and it's great for what I do, you just never regret having more in our line of work.

It's hard to write the massive check at the time, but if you are a working DIT, it will pay for itself in no time. Buy the best you can afford.

Im not a DIT but I went and bought the maxed out 8 core as well and all I can say it's a really nice machine. Personally I did a little math in my head between having 12 cores and 8 and figured that I would gain more having the 8 core for what I do as not everything in multi thread. So for me, I think if my math was about right the 8 core was actually a better option. I'm running it with a x8 pegasus tb2 raid and it's really a nice combo. Flame assist on such setup is quite a killer.

The 6-core dual D700 will play 5K R3Ds on a 1080 monitor in real time. Playing 4K and 5K outputs in real-time on 4K monitors is not trivial for any platform.
