i know: it's not a real scarlet underneath my x-mas-tree, only a cardboard-cutout ;-) but you got to visualize your goals, innit ?

not so much right now as they are not shipping with lcd and side handle. Until the handle comes it would be pure torture to have a brain (maybe LCD) and not be able to power it up. Yes, I'm excited to get the camera.
They all come with AC power to plug in to the wall.

Not so much desperate as angry that they absolutely refuse to say whether I'll get my camera in two weeks, 3 months, 12 months or two years. They can design a pretty nice camera but they really don't come close to running with the big dogs, to use that tired expression, when it comes to fulfillment, and THATs a truth they can't hide despite all the pretending.

By the way, I didn't mean that in a nasty way. I'm just teasing. It's a nice decorated tree. Except that ugly grey ribless unergonomic square thing sitting beneath it.

Ouch...

That doesn't fit my experience with RED or the "big dogs".

BUT, I guess they were eager to open for orders as soon as they had settled on the specs, and they are very busy handling orders, going from basically promise-ware to production-ware (in large scale) overnight.

And people in general seem to be pretty happy to see the cameras actually shipping.

If RED is still in the same backorder situation a year from now, I guess there is reason to be grumpy, but right now they are notching up status from a company that basically sells ideas and quite a few Red Ones, to a company actually delivering three lines of cameras.

Take a deep.

Look at february. That's when Jarred said they'd be out of backorders...

I'll back Gunleik on this. February has been targeted by Red as a goal. And early on they said the DSMC Side Handle and Al EF Mount would be the two items that will cause delays. We knew this in early November.

Red is scaling up and selling to a market much larger than they have before. And like others have said patience is the key here. They will come through and they are executing a plan.

It's can be frustrating. Believe me I know. I've had to rent an Epic twice since ordering my Scarlet, which certainly could have gone towards accessories. I can't be upset about that. The camera was simply not available. Hone in on the zen and wait out the initial storm and all will be rewarded. That's the reality of the situation.

We know they are shipping about or around 50units/week, probably more. What's the problem? If they do that many AND they are ramping up like crazy, I expect February will be a very good month for shooting SCARLET :-)

he he he ... true! It's the good old italian style: Small, Too much different colors, too much cheesy lights but with alotta love ;-) My wifes calabrese-roots just push thru every now and then ;-)

Just intended to send out a little smile. These REDs will knock on our door for sure. Meanwile i shot two Commercials with my 7D and a rented R1 ... and the jobs were paid perfectly ... remember:
The best camera is the one you got. Until the the Scarlet arrives I maintain Perfect RED-ZEN mode ;-) (at least tryin' ;-)

Whats the problem!? Apart from their refusing to give me even an estimated year of delivery? You have a dry sense of humor. I like that.

I am SO 3686. I ordered on 11/10/11. Even if only 2000 of those orders are Scarlets, my camera is over 8 months away. If 3000 of those orders are Scarlets I'm close to a year away from seeing my camera and, again, they absolutely, positively refuse to tell me. If you ordered last week you're looking at a delivery date in mid 2013 unless there is a miraculous transformation in the company.

I wasn't joking about asking them what year I'll get my camera. And they're not joking when they say, "Tough luck. We will not tell you."
I will absolutely not see my camera in February. The 2000 orders ahead of me probably won't either. Nevermind the poor slobs who ordered today.

They aren't going to tell you something they themselves don't know. Red is still growing as well. I wouldn't be shocked if we start seeing ample amounts of Scarlets shipping by February/March. Red wants to make their costumers happy. In terms of construction time, testing, and getting them out the door; these are things they are working on improving and Red's been pretty vocal about that.

Your SO# of 3686 has nothing to do with how many are "ahead of you".

Someone is keeping a list of shipments and it was my understanding, and I think the understanding of many, if not most, everyone else, that there is a relationship between your order number and when you get your camera. If no such relationship exists then I could still get my camera in August, but now I could also now get it next week (instead of April). This is good news. I think?

It would be great if the improvements you hope for actually happen. I agree paradigm shifts happen. Will it happen here and now? We'll see. I'm still betting I won't see my camera in February. I'm literally betting if anyone wants to make it interesting.
