  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

demo reels

Post your demo reels and open forum critique. My reel is a DP reel and meant to be viewed as such.

Www.zogreo.com is where it is found at

Would love the critique, and will fallow with critique's as well

There are some very nice shots in here, but it could be shorter. There are a few too many rack focus shots. Also the compression is bad some parts, although there may not be that much you can do about that. But personally I tend to think YouTube with HD looks better than using your own player/hosting.

Any chance I can get some feedback on my demo reel?

I'll be updating it soon as I just finished a project and have another one coming up soon.

I liked the shots between 0.11 to 0.49 and 1.12 to 1.23. the red shot was good but what is the point showing yourself as a dolly grip without dolly movement?
I think you could cut it to maintain the high quality of the better shots. of course that's just my personal opinion.

Thanks, I'll work on cutting it down. Scrap some rack focus shots. And see what happens.

There's dolly movement there...it's just really, really subtle.

I think direct is the best way to respond to things, so here goes:

The bathroom scene and maybe the film shot beach things is your reel. Get rid of everything else - especially the stuff that looks like a home movie.

Don't mix DoP with grip stuff. Your grip stuff didn't show complex moves... Your dolly shot showed no dolly moving and the camera was wobbling - so that's definitely not something to show. :)

Hope that helps. Shoot more stuff like the bathroom scene and build from there. We look for how things are lit and composed when looking at DP reels. For operators we look at precision.

Some shots are on Red

Would love some feedback!

Just an observation, but I wasn't sure if I was watching a director's reel, a DoP's reel, an editor or compositor's reel.

You may have performed all those roles, but if as a producer I have doubt then the reel is binned.

It's primarily my DP reel with a tad bit of compositing. I have a separate director's reel. Here in Florida & with the economy down here the market mostly is a "one man band" where you have to know & do a little bit of everything... And it seems to be getting worse-less and less of budgets to work with, smaller crews, and flaky clients.
