Most of the cards are actually their spec for reads but not good
for writes.

That's a shame. Have you managed to get hold of Microdia's fastest cards yet? They list a 300x 32GB card on their website (32GB MICRODIA 300 XTRA ELITE CompactFlash Card).

I'd like to see a Red Ram unit running Raid 0 Mtron 64GB SSD's at a 2k price or less. It seems the market is struggling to build a CF to your spec at 16GB.

I have to think Red is all over this guys. It sounds like they are really putting the cards through the paces, and if they don't meet the specs, they are kicked to the curb. That's important because if there's any chance a card doesn't actually live up to the specs when put into the rigors of recording 4K, then I don't want it. And I don't think I want to find out during a shoot that it will record 80% of the time because we all know that the 20% it doesn't record will put our job on the line. I'm all for third party options, but it makes me feel better to know that something has been thoroughly tested in the configuration it will be used.

Hey Jim, Jarred, any updates on the ExpressCard 34 module for RED? Transcend is now shipping 32GB EC34 media that claims over 50MB/s write times. I don't know if it will truly sustain that rate or the minimum needed for RED, but these EC 32GB modules are under $500.

Note to self: keep checking this thread for an answer to this questiony

"Read up to 18MB/s, Write up to 8MB/s"
