  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DEEP ATOM 3D Housing....

Wow!!

That is an engineering marvel...how will control be handled?

With ET's support we're creating an underwater version of the THC that will control IO/Convergence/Focus/Zoom/Iris. It can be positioned anywhere around the housing at the operators convenience. Wired, not wireless.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.

Good day all,

Introducing the REDMOTE Controller.

Like all Gates products, the REDMOTE Controller is designed for reliability, ease of use, and most importantly successful underwater imaging.

But sometimes we make stuff that is just plain cool, too.

The distributor in Australia for Angenieux lenses is now telling me that the Epic X will not take the Angenieux Optimo DP Rouge 16-42 mm lenses as Red has modified the PL mount and will no longer be able to fit the lenses. Does anyone know anything about this????

Ross, send your Australian rep back to school he he, the older ones yes, had to be adjusted, and you needed to pay for it, small chunk of change, but all new units, work just fine, and also cover the flu 5k... ;)

Yes I feel a bit embarrassed as I had a knee jerk reaction to the news. Sorry about that!

He he, we al have those moments... ;)

EDIT:

I am no longer getting the DEEP ATOM and or DEEP EPIC for health related issues which I posted here: a SHUTTERED DREAM

Well,

I guess as it is in my nature, I just can't lay down...

So my interest for the GATES DEEP ATOM is again renewed, go under deep dives? Not likely, but hey I got Large Glass Water Pools and Aquarium to shoot pretty girls in... SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM... ;)

BTW... Take a look at the progress GATES is doing on DEEP ATOM with this few BTS pics... Oh, and thanks to John for the updates... ;)

Does anyone have an opinion on using the new version 2 of the Red 17-50mm lens for DEEP ATOM 3D as I am considering to get these instead of the Angenieux Optimo DP Rouge 16-42 mm matched lenses. As the minimum focus is 4" from front element. Red guys have said that there will be no matching lenses for 3D as the QC is so high at Red.

id like t know this too, but I did check this out with a few lens techs and it was their opinion that the lenses would not match. I have had some success in using non matched zooms of various manufacture as variable primes but never any sucsses through the zoom range. Centricity seems to be a problem.
