December 23rd Holiday Update. Upgrades , New orders, EVFs , Etc.

Small Chargers - One this small would be great :-)

I wish they had this for gold mount.

Good connectors gone bad

Good connectors gone bad

I fried a Paralinx transmitter by powering through the D-tap via at USB D tap adaptor.

FWIW, I used genuine Anton-Bauer D-tap connectors for years with zero problems. Where it all went sideways was companies knocking off the design without keeping the tolerances tight.

It should be virtually impossible to insert the male plug into the female receptacle backwards, which is why AB chose the 'D" shape. I don't know if 3rd party manufacturers were trying to avoid paying licensing fees to AB, or just specced looser tolerances to reduce manufacturing costs. IAC, I miss the days when I could re-patch by feel in a rush without risking a frakkin' disaster. BTW, the tighter tolerances also made the connection more resistant to accidental pulls.

Cheers - #19

I hope RED takes another look into making a lighter XL charger. Sort of defeats the purpose of being lightweight for travel.

Exactly! I'd be all over the XLs if there was a suitable travel charger

O yes for sure.. there are great ones out there. Unfortunately even the good ones get defeated with a shitty connector.

We see alot alot alot of damage on a daily basis from Dtaps, but to be fair to Dtap, it is always human error. Its just one of those things if you can put it in backwards you will.

4K hdmi?

4K hdmi?

Any possibility of 4K hdmi out on the new line (including Raven?)
sdi is great but would just have to convert it back to HDMI for 4K calibrated monitor
would be another step up against competition

I'm sure there will be 4K modules in the future.

For what it's worth, the AB Hytron 140s are too wide to have access to the 2 pin lemo ports with the ET Gold Mount Battery Module. Obviously a non-issue when using the XL Module.

I love my PAGlinks. They are small, not overly heavy, keep their charge well, stackable up to 8 (linear).
The little (pocket) chargers take 2 batteries at ones and fully charge those 2 in 7-ish hours.
PAG also has acc. to snap on to the batteries (or between 2 batteries) with various power-ports.

The greatest thing I feel is when doing a lengthy shot and power gets too low... you just snap a fresh PAG on top of the one on the camera. Bang, full charge without interruption.

And you can take (theoretically) as many as you wish in your carry-on :-)

I use them constantly in the Arctic. Regularly I had them at -30º, even at -40º.
They kept on performing wonderful!

I also love the RED BRICKS but air cabin regulations make it almost impossible for me to take these all the way up North (+100 Wh).

We are very confident that we will have notified all Carbon Upgrade owners by January 27th, at which time we will jump right into the Magnesium upgrades.

I suppose this means I'll get a notification sometime in the next 20 days... Exciting! I didn't realize how far back in line I was even when ordering on day 1. Next time I am definitely taking the forged path; I considered it but I kick myself for not doing it as soon as it was announced.

Did enough people raise their hands for the SDI jetpack?

I got the stupid timing mixed up. I thought they were announcing it at night, but they announced it in the early morning the day of. So i was sleeping. Ordered mine a few hours later when I woke up... CF Weapon still not allocated. This can only mean that next time the entire week of NAB I will not sleep.

Yes to SDI on the Jetpack.
