Jim dont get pissed...some kids want one more scoop of ice cream,it just that they dont realize how full their going to be what daddy is giving them...glutonous human nature!!

your efforts to reward your loyal customers is well appreciated mate...
please dont ever change that.

all the best

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude.....

i think you should start a list of those who dont appreciate how awsome your company policy is ...and send it to SONY

Thank you, indeed. Period.

Thank you, indeed. Period.

So, I woke up to read that the previously amazingly generous offer of full-trade in value has been upped even more by Jim and his restless team. We can continue shooting f-ing awesome footage on the Red One, for years to come. Or we can trade it in and get an even more awesome camera for the price of a decent HDV camera.

And what happens? A few people actually manage to complain. And complain. And complain.

C´mon, get real. This is unprecedented treatment of customers.

So, Jim and crew:
Thank you.

Am very much looking forward to the development in the coming months. And am equally looking forward to continually shooting footage on our oh-so-not obsolete R1.

Anyway, as a way of saying thanks, could this be the place the stingy RED thingy really is placed:

I think the upgrade to Epic X is very fair to the original Red One customers.

I'll have a go at asking a few questions :

The Epic X kit : does that come with a lens mount built on, or is that an extra?

I think this would be a 99% no from the pics, but worth asking : would my Birger mount be able to go onto the Epic X and take aux power?

Which of my current accessories will work with the upgrade and what would not? My guess is the dovetail/cheeseplate/bottom plate will be no good, but the EVF, LCD, reddrive will still all work via cables and universal mounts?

How much better is the skew on Mysterium X compared to the Mysterium in our Red One's? (just trying to weigh up the benefits of upgrading to the new sensor)

Redcode 250. Is it selectable, in other words, can I go back to using a lower data rate Redcode? You wont be getting much Redcode 250 on a 16G CF card! (But less compression would surely mean better realtime playback/editing performance :-) )

Finally, I can't afford this yet so please hold the offer open for as long as you can. I need to make my investent back on my Red One (or some of it) before I even think of upgrading.

Thanks, I know these questions seem like money saving cheapo ones, but unfort that's the position some of us are in ;-) . Thankyou for taking the revised approach to the epic upgrade!

Martin.

It must be our location, but I couldn't agree more...

I don´t think it is the geographic location, it must have more to do with the location of certain cells inside the brain. Those parts that have to do with reality check, gratitude and general decency.

But that is just me...

Well I just hate you guys... :-)

I was planning on never setting part from our RED. I waited too long for it, from the days of illustrations on old website and DVXuser, been through too much and love all it represents and the crew behind it. I was never planning to let it go for the new one, no matter how good.

With the generous upgrade path to Epic now it is very tough not to. If only there was an option to keep the original Red body (just a shell) so we can put it in a studio as an emotional/historic souvenir. If there was an option for that I'd gladly pay for the body shell.

Epic X = REDCODE 250
other = REDCODE 225
Typo or... ?

Specs and pricing for Scarlet are great. 1080p mode will enable fast standard workflow and HUGE demand.
2/3" Scarlet is just what we need for TV projects. Thank you.

I think prosumer cam makers are having a pretty bad day...plus some others also.

Please ignore any negative responses. There are many happy people out there and over here...

A good 75% of this thread has all been noise...

I've scrolled through the posts know and I am just finding 2-3 persons that are not positive to the new announcments. With all the good feedback you shouldn't be hanged up on the tiny percentage (it must be less than one per thousand) of negativity :)
Your doing a great job, and to me it seems like people are indeed amazed by your offerings.

Regards Are

This is just amazing. I'm very afraid of what the Scarlet with 8x zoom lens will do to the sanity of the interwebs. Professional level movie making in the hands of amateurs like me. With friends and family who have some talent, but not enough. Youtube and vimeo will shudder. All the gory details that used to remain hidden, now revealed in all their hideous 2/3" FF1080P glorious workflow simplicity. Shallow depth-of-field when we can find the time to recruit someone to do the focus pulling, massive DOF by just stopping down a bit. Brilliant.

And all the yummy slow-mo effects us talent-free will use to create stunning light-saber fights...

The big conundrum of next fall will be how to convince my wife I actually need one. Until then, I'll keep practicing with my HV30.

Jim, or anyone from red, what approximately will the fixed zoom be? What are you shooting for? We know, specs may change...

Umm i kep getting refered back to page 86 :(

The last two pages no longer exist... One of the MODS has gone through the thread and deleted some of the more foolish posts, and this means there is a disrepancy between the reported number of posts (and therefore pages) and the actual number of posts (and by extension, pages) left after the purge.

EDIT : Ah! There we go - It's fixed.

Maybe I missed this, but the Still resolution? Nothing changed? Scarlet FF35 is still 24MP?

Bob Demchuk

It's a straight conversion from Sensor size to Megapixels, as far as I'm aware, so if there is no change in sensor size then there will be no change in stills Megapixels.

Amazing specs, amazing prices... So... when do we get to start ordering?

Cheers for explaining guys hahaha. So still no explanation of the Red Ball Of Death huh? Just wana know if its a Red teaser joke or if its a soon-to-be-releasse new module.

As for everything else, awsome news red team! And man how dissapointing it is that some people live to anoy those who work so hard to make our lifes easier and funner (red team).
