So long story short, anybody who'd planning on getting an Epic should just buy a RED ONE now...

Not sure about that.

The announcement states "for existing RED ONE owners...", so probably not applicable to new purchases, which makes sense.

But we'll see I guess

Looking forward to shooting with the new rig. FWIW I think giving us the full price of the R1 toward the Epic X was a reasonable way to hew to the essence of the OO (Obsolescence Obsolete) commitment. Just let me know when #19 is ready :w00t:

I bet they will cut off this deal at some point to the new Red Ones yet to be purchased but still offer a trade in on the Epic body minus modules.

Is there a deadline to qualify as a Red Owner or the Limited is limited to the first...... Otherwise, the Epic X package is USD17,500.....??

Anytime before any Epic begins shipping

New challenge:

What to do with FIVE THOUSAND RED Ones in August? :)

I suggested in an earlier thread that Red start a trade in program. Jim is offering full trade-in credit towards a new Epic. That is phenomenal.

Obviously a full featured trade-in program would not offer full trade-in credit. With the exception of the early adopters, Red could offer a trade-in program for new modules (even the purchasing system is modular), and then sell the used modules for a great price (for them) that would include a warranty. That way, Red could offer competitive trade in credit, and offer competitive used prices due to their used warranty.

Talk about buying into the only camera system you would ever need, you wouldn't even have to go outside of Red to upgrade your equipment! :}

I think the private reserve EPIC-X body should be limited to RED One owners who purchased their body BEFORE this announcement was made. The other offers should still stand however.

This new announcement didn´t make it any easier.... more options... not easier....

My brains is messed up again.... messed up.

I do however deeply appreciate how RED now runs on European time, as I have spent some very loooooong hours in the past waiting for those announcements Pacific Time.

Now I can be informed and sleep!

Originally if a RED ONE owner wanted to trade in for the S35 EPIC they'd have to pay about 10 grand correct? So now I'm wondering if EPIC X will be much cheaper considering it's not just a brain.

That would be the big difference that's yet to be announced.

So far the difference is that it's a "Limited Edition" package. Looks cool.

The problem before were some R1 owners actually wanting to trade down for the Scarlett, not up because of costs.

Nice stuff happening over @ Jims thread...

Now we only need the price :)

But I guess there's more up his sleave... Just because of the "Nov 13th was nothing" thingy

I'm dying to find out if they're going to address the s35 sized sensor EPIC with monstros latitude, that's the clincher for me!

Not if you're going to Mars. Then you'd need a space-ship, but who knows - maybe RED have options for that too, down the road... :sarcasm:

So how much more for EPIC-X S35?

Edit: Oh, I think it's going to be the same. $4500 for sensor only. 10k for S35. So basically Jim is throwing in the modules for "free".

Is that right?
