Don't you take my S35 away! :)

I agree. Although it's only about a $3000 difference, that's still an additional $3000 for accessories and what not to your S35. It is still though quite tempting and even has me thinking twice. But I think I've got all I need with the S35.

It's a fantastic day and age to be in the business! May we all sleep sound tonight and dream of our cameras. Thank you SO much Red Team....:w00t:

Does this work with the REDmote?

Jim, I think the main questions here are:

1. How much more DR does the Epic S35 Mysterium-X have over the Red One? Also, what is the number figure on that (i.e. 12 stops)?

2. Is there an upgrade path to go from the Epic S35 X to the Epic Monstro S35 (If such a sensor exists)? And if so, what would the upgrade costs associated be?

It's obvious that everyone wants max DR, I've begged for that from day one in respects to the Red One.

If the Epic Mysterium X limits us as far as DR goes, I'd much rather wait for the FF35 Epic Monstro and use my $17.5 trade in then. EVERYONE WANTS DR. :w00t:

Wait all you want. My bet is that if you can't make great images from a RED ONE... Monstro won't help you. With all due respect.

Jim

Hi Jim & Red Team,

It is an awesome update, I love it! Even I am not the REDONE user but your thought and care to the royal customer has just put me wanting more to be your Scarlet user because I am sure you will do the similar thing for me in the future in protecting our investment.

You have just give us a good hints that the complete kit of Scarlet I is less then $4k, then perhaps the Scarlet S35 won't exceed $8.5k. Am I right ? if so then I could think of either having 2xScarletI or 1 Scarlet S35. Both have exceed a bit of my budget but well worth it.

Because both Scarlet I & Scarlet S35 do 2K & 1080P, and Scarlet S35 have 72fps which is sufficient for most of the slow motion work, both are sweet... so it is all about how much I can put in by Fall 2009, shouldn't be much problem :p.

Would you mind to tell us what is the 'complete kit' ? I assume a basic view-finder, a CF recording unit, a 4hours battery & charger, a basic software for viewing RED RAW. Does it include the mini XLR input unit ?

Thanks again, really appreciate to have this update.

Maybe there are few who don't understand "upgrade" once you're in the Scarlett/Epic modular system.

To upgrade, you have to buy the entire brain. So if you upgrade to the Limited Edition Epic X, to upgrade to the FF35, you buy the entire brain module for 33k. You'll have to sell your Epic X brain, but you get to keep the cf/battery/io modules.

BTW... how badly will the 2/3" Scarlet blow cameras like the HVX200 and Sony EX1 out of the water??? Those companies are gonna get rolled up and smoked.

2/3 scarlet is now fit to record 2.4:1 aspect ratio. that is fookin' awesome. $3,750 is a veeery nice price.
thanks red team.
yes.. seems the boss has :poster_oops: they have listened some voices over here.. :whistling:

You serious? What exactly are you saying so I can respond very clearly?

Jim

Jim,
i won’t repeat what I said, but if your asking what is the point of it….
I’m asking what is the upgrade path from an Epic S35 to an Epic FF35 which is where most high (and low, I guess) end users wanna be?

Presently it sounds (unless I missed something) I can go from the RedOne to Epic S35 for a good price (too fair if you ask me), but six months later when the Epic FF35 comes out with an additional 2/3 stops etc, I’m going to pay $35K+ for this. Is this correct?

It's not 12/3 yet .. at least at Red HQ - does anyone think there's more to come ..... :)

What is up with the spikey ball and the awesome looking spy camera?!?!

Minus what you sell your Limited Edition Epic S35 for.
