  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dear Jim

I'm guessing the reason why we have not seen new footage has something to do with these big announcements. I get the feeling that Scarlet has gone through another overhaul, perhaps they will incorporate the new Monstro technology into the scarlet sensor to give it a longer competitive life. I think that would be a smart move by Red. Especially with Cannon rumored to release a camera to compete with the Scarlet.

He he, I think is good not to be carried away here... However, changes in resolution could be very well forthcoming... We'll see on NOV 3d... ;)

I anticipate that since the Scarlet announcement, everyone at Red are sitting back like proud amused parents watching their kids buzz with excitement and anticipation on Xmas eve. :grouphug:

a 43 day christmas eve...sheesh that is forever away!

Will be here before you know it.
Thats what my mom always used to tell me. I didn't ever sleep on christmas eve....I was born to be an editor and work on movies...Now I never sleep until projects get done, amazing cameras are released...or other varying reasons of excitement. Thanks Mah!

Also if you would please update the webpage with information, like the cost of the unit and specs. I think since the announcement of shipment this year your cmpany should have at last some numbers ready for the cost of the unit and extras. I really don't have time to sift through the garbage post on this forum fueled by speculations and hype.

Yowza. That's the spirit. :skep:

I say keep RedMas Day to its full badass potential. You didn't hear Steve Jobs leaking information before he launched the iMac. "Oh by the way? That thing we're launching? Well I can't tell you much but, oh shucks, it'll eventually come in tangerine and dalmatian and it can be converted into a nifty fish tank!!"

Worst thing is to semi reveal new products (unless it's a well thought out teaser campaign).

Jim, can you confirm you will release new teaser footage between now and Nov 3?

Resduser readers, please participate in showing your support for new footage :nopity:

WHY?

Why is everyone desperate to see footage before we have some solid nailed down shiping dates. Unless the camera has changed (ie improved) then we know almost exactly what the footage will look like. people have been discussing the Lens specs for the last 2 years. We know what the sensor produces from Red One MX and even the EPIC with HDR fills in some blanks. We have Jarreds slow motion footage plus some small earlier small clips.

I think the whole DVX culture of DSLR comparing has made everyone more interested in test footage than trusting in the RED as a brand based on its past products. And sure we have to see footage before we buy but do we really need to see footage before announcements? Makes me wonder if people really have the intention to use the camera but just have a fetish for test footage.

I vote for letting the RED team concentrate on invention and production.

Unless Jarred gets one of his wild hairs to shoot some sort of skateboarding/modeling/backflipping/wild animal extravaganzas in his free time.

Let the new users and new buyers post footage for the skeptics. Let the skeptics get in line behind.

I don't know why SCARLET onlookers demand footage - the sensor technology is the same as RED ONE and EPIC - chip size and resolution may/may not be different. We'll know when they announce....footage won't even inform us very much until we know the specs which we would be comparing it against.

I'm along with those saying lets hold off on seeing footage. I'd rather let them do what they do best. I want an insane surprise out of the box. I'd rather let them build these cameras like the well oiled machine they are and can. Oh man not much longer. I really have to try and keep calm haha. I have a wedding in 3 weeks and don't have a calendar counting down the days...but I have one for the Scarlet haha. Luckily my fiancee is just as excited as I.

Exactly!

And we know from past behaviour that Red will put the camera in peoples hands anyway to show people what it can do....

Not demanding, requesting with excitement - and its A SCARLET, not a RED ONE nor EPIC. If all footage looked the same they would not have 3 cameras on offer.

Wrong. Has nothing to do with trust, and so far from the mark regarding DSLR stereotyping. I'm requesting footage because RED do a magnificent job at creating hype around a new and improved camera. God for bid you for a test drive next time you're about to buy a new car (and super excited about it), what an outrages and insulting concept that would be.

I can't believe the bitterness I'm receiving from some people. I'll ignore the sour pusses here in and hold on to the idea that the RED TEAM will understand and appreciate my sentiment, after all they do such a wonderful job at creating both motion picture footage and the hype regarding their camera releases, I think they will value my post as an expression of passion and excitement, after all, aren't the RED TEAM passionate and excited themselves.

With all due respect, I could see the proposed specs and estimated price of AF100, or F3 a couple of month before it hit the market. It listed the specs, also listed type of batteries used, I/O connections. Hey, they actually released some shorts before they started shipping. This is what companies normally do. The also update their web page more then every 2 years, RED did not even bother to do so. RED, if you try to pretend to be a media hardware company would it be so hard to act like one?

Looks like there's at least one person who is looking to get on the "shit list." LOL

You do realize there has been Scarlet footage released? It might be old but its still very impressive. Red is staying quiet to keep there competitors at bay. Have they dissapointed with a release yet? They were open about the Epic and while the Alexa and Sony F65 are impressive do they touch the Epic? Not IMHO. If RED is keeping something quiet, it will probably smoke whatever is in it's price field. If they're out in the open and still kill every camera that even gets close imagine how amazing the camera they're keeping top secret will be.

Since when was RED a "normal company"?

Do you know how to use a web-browser? If so you should go to RED.com and see that it has been re-designed. And is updated when necessary.

I'm glad RED isn't every other company. Thankful in fact.

You should get out of here if you are so against it. Go buy something that shoots HD then. No disrespect but I read it as you wanted something different from a company. That is the only reason I reccomend you look elsewhere.
