  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

deadly CALAVERA (limited intro offer)

I bumped into DJ last night while prepping for a project at the local watering hole (Redman Movies & Stories), and noticed his Calavera on his camera. If it we're for my lack of cash on-hand, I would have bought one on the spot. Needless to say, he's got my money now. Seriously, this thing is very cool and quite possibly excessively functional (is that even possible?)! I'm not much for outfitting my camera with every possible accessory, but this one just made so much sense that I felt it would be pretty stupid not to have one. DJ and Karren are a pretty cool duo!

Dj,

How about a slender low profile cage for a wireless receiver (Lectros) that bolts on top of the Calavera with the same mounting holes on top of that for the battery plate. So, the end result would be Drive under the Calavera, wireless next up and the battery on top of that????

Do you think that would be to tall overall???

Check it out... i need one.

Why not put the wireless box on the back of the Cav just above the HDD locking screw? Lower the GC just a bit.

Kyle- Thanks for the kind words. Karen and I enjoyed chatting with you at Redman and putting a face to your name (other than your avatar :smile5:). I hope you enjoy using the Calavera in your beautiful state!

As of now I don't have any plans for doing a cage, but I just might have a solution for you sometime in the next few weeks...

I can't seem to be able to mount the drive under the thing. It gets stuck on the screw (not the nylon tipped one the other which stays fixed). am I doing something wrong ?

Just back out the screw( without
nylon tip) a turn or two
it rubs the drive and skratches the
paint a little. You should lock it with
lock-tight once you find proper depth.
We also took the screw out and
beltsanded it smooth. The edges are
a little sharp when brand new

Can this be used as an L bracket to get the camera easily to 90 deg? Any pics of this?

Yes - but only if you have components with the right spacings. They have a picture of it configured this way, but I don't know what they're using. I spent an hour at Camera House trying to make it work, and they didn't have anything that would match the hole spacings on the unit.

I use Deadly CALAVERA to put Sound Devices Mix Pre on back of the camera and still have place for one more device on the top of that like a HDSDI to HDMI or similar AJA mini converter.

Have a look at the attachments:

Calaveras in stock!

Calaveras in stock!

I have another fresh batch of Calaveras chattering away in my studio. Get one while they last!

Carlos- HERE is the solution I alluded to a while back. See the 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos.

Hi there - question for the calvera boys - will this thing allow the EpicX to undersling from an oconnor? I only ask as I plan on buying but only if it works with the new kit.
The Epic seems to have fewer mounting options than the R1.

Thanks

James Mather
