Hello there

Here is a visuals teaser (images are uncolorcorrected, straight off the meta data transcodes) for:
"Dead Drop Sugarcane" starring Luke Goss, Cole Hauser and Nestor Carbonell

Shot on 2 Epic bodies at 5k WS with bare minimum packages including some Optimo Zooms for ease of use and speediness. It was my first time using these lenses, and although they were kind of slow since I'm used to primes...I still liked them and shot mostly at around 5.6 or higher at low ISOs. Good times, and definitely an "Epic" adventure..

Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy.

Yousuf - I think that's the idea. Was fortunate to have limited theatrical on the last two features I shot, so I'm hoping this one gets at least that. Once the cut is right, I'm stoked to get it into DI and dial it in for the big room.

Mike P - Haha! - yea I was particularly proud of that shot - thanks!

Who else is thinking, what I'm thinking? Jeep tracking shot... pure awesome!

Uh yeah. That jeep shot is SICK. The way the jeep veers BACK into frame as it swerves? WOW.

I also love the exploding lunch table shot. Pure heaven.

This looks great AJ. 10,000x congrats.

Thanks Nick. How do you like your Scarlets? We almost shot on one of those but I haven't much experience with them so I pushed for a second Epic instead.

My partners each bought a Scarlet, and it's been great to have in-house cameras. We still find ourselves working with a friend's Epic a lot, for promos that Slow-Mo is so great. But as B-Cam's to the Epic, they have been terrific. More importantly, they really established our company as beings serious about production.

We're all promo guys by nature, and we're all carefully planning a shift away from justediting, into actually shooting the materials we edit with. So to that end, after a year of renting REDs (usually two at a time or interviews), having them has been a great statement.

As the in-house producer of the trio, being able to leave my DSLR's at home, and know that EVERYTHING from now on will be 4K+ and RAW has been a huge relief.

And now that we have the cameras, it's also freed me to focus on what I love most: acquiring as much glass as I can get! The promo producer in me loves "tricks", and I'm on a constant hunt foroddball lenses that can do one cool thing really well. In a :30 or :60 that's sometimes all you need.

Back to you though - again, great work. Your feature looks sick!!!!

Thanks man. Glad to hear the Scarlett is a good B Camera, I figured it would be. Also been poking around on astronautnyc.com and see a bunch of cool spots but I am interested to know what specific things you shot on Scarlett that I could see? PM me with some links if you would! Thanks

Really nice and great cut.

Thanks Phil. Credit for the cut goes to the editor Mike Wech, who also served as our DIT during the shoot.
