I light indoor scenes with a variety of tungsten or incandescent lights or gel daylight balanced Astras, but what if I only had daylight balanced Astras (no gels), how do you get away with this look on skin (assume no mixed lighting from the sun). Does just moving the white balance up closer to daylight look passable?

Anyone shoot actors only with daylight balanced lights indoors?

Yep, my Astras are "just daylight". If i'm using them as key, I'm white balancing to them. If I'm mixing them with say daylight through a window as key, I go that way and occasionally gel to match depending on the light coming through that window.

It's real useful to have a gray card or some sort of white balance reference on set for just this reason. Despite REDCODE RAW being raw and having the ability to adjust things in post, I like to get things quick and right in camera if time permits.

I have daylight balanced BBS Area 48 and Astras for indoor shoots. Dial in the required colour temp or use the grey card to white balance. It works all the time. If you have sufficient number of Astras or other lights in daylight then you can easily use those. Astras also come in dual mode.
