  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

You're welcome! I'm always looking for info on both old and new features, now in Resolve 16, that I really hadn't seen explained in enough anywhere else.
 
How do you adjust the parameters in the finest increment on a pc. Is it possible to move the offset finer than 0.2 jumps with just a mouse and keyboard? Lift, gamma gain you can move 0.01 increments. So why not the offset? Also on mac os i can move some parameters finer than in pc?

You're probably wondering if you're an Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X user what all the fuss is about with Resolve 16. You might be considering jumping platforms or you may be new to it all having just recently purchased a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Well rest assured in this review I intend to cover all the different aspects that make DaVinci 16 a phenomenal post production tool including the new Cut page. Some may find it intimidating at first glance but after watching this you'll know how to approach it and navigate its rich features.

Just keep one thing in mind. You don't have to use every page or tool that is in there. You can just stick to only the tools you need and feel comfortable with and if you do need additional help the good news is you can always outsource things like compositing/vfx and sound mixing. In fact the same project file can be shared with others and everyone can collaborate using the same platform.

Easy peazy lemon squeezy!

I personally prefer DaVinci Resolve over other platforms specifically for color grading and I have been using it extensively since version 8 when it first came to the Mac in 2010. I've used it to grade commercials, feature films and episodic television shows.

You can with a control surface. In fact, some control surfaces allow you to adjust the Offset as "Printer Lights," and you can do so in 1-point increments, which is pretty subtle.

I'm back on DR15. DR16 exports kept giving GPU errors (GTX 770 4GB). I tried all the solutions.

Luckily, I backed up the DR15 database before upgrading.
I recovered my DR16 project's timeline xml, but lost some of the advanced things I was doing on the timeline.

I suggest don't do anything important on DR16 at this point, especially if you don't have a powerful machine.

I'm having no problem with it currently. However, Yeah, I think Davinci Resolve 16 requires more computing resources than 15. This will be the case from now on.
