  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Davinci 9 how do you turn off - output blanking? - getting black borders on exports

Under "format" window select "output" tab, ther you'll find a reset button hit it and voila you done it.
you can reset it manualy there too.

I am on 9.1.4 full resolve license. on a mac.

I cant seem to find a format tab?

- EDIT - I know how to reset it in the sizing window, but that is clip pr clip. I want to set it for a whole project.

- Also Peter - in the output blanking, why is the option a 1:2.35, and not 1:2.39 (when that is the DCP standard and every widescreen scope standard since... :)?

best,

Sidney

The actual actual output for widescreen should be 2.40. Always use the guidelines and specific written specs from the distributor for this stuff. Audio can be a considerable headache all by itself, let alone aspect ratios.

Double check all your input vs output sizing controls

I know it should be 1: 2.39/2.40 - but Davinci v9xxx uses the 1:2.35 aspect ratio in most of their options for aspect ratio...
Custom settings. Check the pixel count as per the client's specs. I've had letterboxed masters kicked back because they were one line off.

If you got a black line around the whole image, its the antialiasing.
You can turn it off just below the scaling algorithm in your project settings

Its only usable when you animate the size over time and scale below 100%
