  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

David Mullen's "Jennifer's Body"

Well, a quick Google search came up with the date of December 29, 2009 as the official release date for Jennifer's Body on DVD & Blu-Ray. So I question how the copy you purchased could be legal. What was the online store?

The DVD is not out yet, so I have no idea how someone could buy one already...

Anyway, that row of houses was under construction, as the script required, so there was no electricity installed yet. The trick was shooting the scene before they finished the work on that street, we had to time our schedule to the construction schedule for those tract homes.

Here's a ground-level snapshot I took, my fingers blocking out the lighting (two 18K HMI's on a 125' condor):

How did you "break up" the light of the two 18K's on the road? Very nice looking stuff!

The condor was pretty far back so the two 18K's in the bucket became close to being one source, though one was aimed on one row houses and the other 18K on the other. The dark band in the street was not a shadow, just a wet road that was drying in different spots.

Just watched this again today on Blu-Ray. Held up great, one of my fav movies (and most underrated) of 2009.

David, I'm wondering... What did you use to achieve the split focus shots? There's quite a few in here. I'd love to try it on my next feature. Thanks!

Those were just done with split-diopter filters, except for one shot outside in a football field where you see a guy in the foreground and Megan Fox in the far background walking towards him, I think we used a tilt-focus lens for that and just stopped way down in sunlight... or maybe we just stopped way down with a normal lens.
