  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Data I/O to surpass anything else I have come across so far

Hi all, Just putting this out there, on one x16 PCIe Gen 3.0 slot up and up to 8TB (this test was with 4x 512GB modules)
Configured with striped raid and all in the smaller Z640 HP workstation, I have never seen this speed in one box.

Thoughts please?

Are we talking about a pci-e storage card? I've mentioned this before, and as a battery back ram card, for working performance but get blank stares around here. Really is a fast way to go as long as you can auto backup file updates in the background while your working in case of crashes.

Any links to the device you are talking about Rich?

Hi Wayne, yes PCIe flash, we are using the official HP Z Quad Pro Z drive with the new Samsung Polaris modules in our Z 640's and 840's. TBH with any form of raid there needs to be a running backup so as a working drive I don't see the issue. We are launching our new web store in the next few days so I'll send over some videos demoing them. I think they're amazing personally!

It's hard to see in your image. Is that ~11000MB/s read and ~6000MB/s write?

Niiiiiiiiice! Use cases though....i'm struggling to see where i'd need this? GPU is my bottle neck. This would work in tandem with CPU i guess...so the more cores the better. What are you using it for?

Yes it is rather...

We build custom config workstations (mainly HP Z or Dell Precision) So clients always find some way to use this power/speed. Few examples -

1, 4-8K native playback, smooth as butter.
2, Large transfers of media or the fastest ingest as long as your cams media input is fast (these can happily chomp up multiple stream transfers of USB 3,1 10gbps from SD cards etc)
3, For audio you can playback crazy streams of up to 192Khz files or extremely large complex orchestral sampler packages with 100's if not 1000's of articulations per note (we deal with a lot of film composers)

Theres a few good reasons :) As for multiple GPU, we are working on GPU acceleration all the time, recently we became a Cubix reseller so looking at some custom rigs with 6-8 pascal's but without a jet engine powering them all.
If you don't mind I'll add you in Linkedin so I can notify you on new updates, all very exciting stuff for 2017!

I'm interested, any advantage in a ram pci-e card with battery backup, or resistive and parasitic capacitance (retentive memory like flash is, but low powered and faster)?

Something of interest for your hardware partners, would be to combine one of these types of high memory storage witjna GPU on the same card?

Curious to see Crystal Disk Mark runs. Atto is always A) hard to read charts B) by far the highest bench numbers.

Also curious on CPU usage during bench runs as NVME can be a bit of a pig.
