"We tested ALL the digital camera's available and against film and we chose the RED MX for Pirates of the Caribbean 4. We have had no camera problems with the RED ONEs and we have had the kind of support that is above and beyond the call. We didn't know what to expect when we started with 13 RED ONE MX cameras (supplied from Panavision), but the cameras are performing flawlessly under extreme conditions and we could not be happier. Thank you to the people and the incredible support from both Panavision and RED. If we had to make the decision again we wouldn't change a thing."

Sounds like a good report card.

Did I mention that Pirates 4 is a $300M budget movie?

The images they are creating with the RED's are breathtaking. Dariusz and Trevor Loomis, and of course Jeroen Hendriks who is supporting them on set have been incredible to work with.

And it's more ammunition in my arsenal when talking to producers trying to convince them to shoot RED MX. Well done guys.

Wow! This just puts in perspective all the people moaning and groaning...I guess there will always be a few. But this feedback is the one that matters.

Well done guys.

And with the RED cameras I bet the story will even improve!
(but seriously, congrats. That is a major endorsement to have a panny/MX endorsement)

Round for the cinematographer... LOL :-)

LOL!

Congratulations!

Great feedback Jim. Congratulations. You set out to build the camera the others didn't have the sense to build and comments like this must be wonderful vindication - like you really need it.

Yeah, but what are they usin' for the wildlife scenes? Hmmm????

They're making a Pirates of the Caribbean movie??????

Seriously, great news for the Red Team - technology that is constantly validated in 'real world' examples.

Not surprised. With the MX, I don't think there's a good argument for film, other than you like the look better. Or more likely, you like the look of a certain stock better. The auteurs who can afford it, like Spielberg, will stick with it, but I see 99% of productions giving the same report card very soon. If only you guys were publicly traded! ;)

13 cameras, though? Yikes! How on earth do they coordinate them? Man, what I wouldn't give to be an AC or something on that set.

Congrats RED TEAM !

There is no substitute for hard work !
