  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dariusz Wolski...

this is a BIG statement from someone who can't be more experienced working with film, and h is talking about REDONE not EPIC,
Congrats RED TEAM!

Did I mention that Pirates 4 is a $300M budget movie?

Jim

Really ? And that's what Disney calls a "cheaper Pirates of The Carribean" ?
(I've read somewhere on the Internet that they wanted to do a cheaper one because P3 didn't work as they wanted)

Anyway, GREAT news for RED !

Why wait for post?

Lucas
Disney execs linked through their Ipads? I was thinking how FX has gotta love these R3D's. The 3D teaser at Comic Con looked great. Bravo and another ration of rum to all involved.

The last time I checked (quite some time ago now,) the contract wording was still that you had state "Filmed with Panavision Cameras and Lenses." Have they finally dropped "filmed"?

And of course, you also had the counterpart "Filmed in Panavision" if you shot anamorphic 2.40:1.

:-) I was paraphrasing because I was too lazy to go and look at the end credits of something. It will be interesting if they still use the word filmed. Maybe binaried?

There are many haters on Roger Deakins's forum and cinematography.com...

Epic will shut their mouth very soon... :)

The haters will continue to air their fears - they might even get more vocal with Epic because their fear levels will rise. Just because they're making noise doesn't make them right. Every day, it seems, they become more marginalised.

Red's increasing success has made it a victim of the Whack-a-Mole conspiracy.
Stick your head too far above the crowd in any field of endeavor and you become a target.:hat:

And I thought tall poppy syndrome was uniquely Australian.

I actually believe one of the big issues is that Red were the first to really have a digital camera (as distinct from a video camera that recorded digitally) that could actually give film a shake (and could be accessed by more than a select few) but the old "it doesn't work like the old one" syndrome hit. So many of the folk who have issues with Red seem to be incredibly experienced and talented film DPs. It's possible that they now work so intuitively that a camera that doesn't behave the way they're accustomed just throws them.

Sometimes the first victims of a revolution are those most stellar under the previous regime. It's then left to the new guard to carry the flag.

Martial arts metaphor: Take a 1st dan black belt from one style and try to teach them a new style - they tend to learn quickly. But take a master from one style and try to teach them a new way and they find it difficult to adapt - so ingrained are the ways of their old style.
