..... film recorders. Although the Aaton is going to take their recorder biz away too.
Arri has already lost the game. The only thing left for them is accessorie, lights and film recorders. Although the Aaton is going to take their recorder biz away too.

I really think the first camera company to get 3-CCD 4k cameras will be the leading company in the industry.
Um... some fairly good lenses too.
You sing it..And who was working on that kind of Camera? (Da....-) :w00t:

Actually, Dalsa's cameras weren't 3-CCD, there were 1-CCD; Because of the desire to use the PL mount. All film lenses are designed to focus on a single plane not a prism. 3-CCD 4k would need new lenses made.
No, because this 3-CCD cameras require 2/3" chips and a prism design - both limiting performance considerably. Single imager is certainly the way forward.
If we speak of other companies as well, what do you guys think of SI? They have a great camera -if Red One was not there. On another forum somebody said the Red brains are just the same idea as SI mini head, which is not completely out of truth, although the obvious difference is SI mini head versus Red's line of seven (or eight) brains.
red manages to squeeze in the whole image processing and viewfinder/monitor debayering in these small brains..impressive!
wrong place..and if you don't want an optical viewfinder nor uncompressed images you get a much better deal with a red one or a scarlet![]()
How does the Dalsa compare to the D21?
chuckle..no way. i'm glad enough jarred did not kick me out of this forum yeti browse all the cinematography forums (fora?) - it's interesting to read what cinematographers want from a new camera - and impossible to please them all
