Am I doing something wrong? I just upgraded the Epic to 1.6.12 or whatever, and shot a few reels in Vegas. Right now, none of them will open in Premiere 5.5, but all of my older Epic footage will still open in it. The newer footage works just fine in RCX 454.

Any idea on what might be happening?

Thanks!

that sucks tom... do you want to send me a snapshot of something? i could at least try it on my system. don't know how else i can help.

i'm guessing you've tried to contact dave or adobe?

The plugins each need to be put manually in the correct folders also. I'll send the link to the instructions in a minute.

Tom, do you have a RED ROCKET? If so, be sure you're running the latest 1.4.10 firmware! The ROCKET won't process 2K and some other EPIC modes shot with the latest firmware. Move to EPIC firmware 1.6.20, RCX v470.

I doubt it's your Adobe plugin as I don't think it's been updated lately, still the one from back in May... But you may want to check in case you're still running the earlier beta from March.

I downloaded CS5.5 10 days ago and the updated May 2011 Epic plugins still needed to be installed separately.

I've only got Premiere 5.5 and installed the plug ins in that and Adobe Media Encoder, in anticipation of getting an Epic or two in the next few months. The plug-in package had a drop-in plug-in for After Effects as well. I'm curious if that will work with After Effects CS4? Anyone know?

Dave from Adobe recommended to me to move up to CS5.5 because those plugins won't work with CS4. I'm using the trial version for now but I will upgrade to CS5.5 in 20 days. He said CS5.5 is way ahead of CS4 with the work Adobe Labs is doing.

Dump CS4 and move to CS5.5 ASAP! CS4 was actually quite buggy and much of it was never fixed, they just moved on to CS5. The latest R3D support from the Labs site is great and very stable, supports EPIC, RED Rocket, etc..

Just to be clear: Have we figured out why Epic footage shot on Version 1.6.12 and higher will not open on CS5.5, while Epic footage shot on earlier versions will open?

I can email Dave, but I figured other people must be having the same problem?

I am in the field shooting and not able to test anything for a week or two.

Hi Tom,

I am almost back from my vacation... Can you get me a clip... Haven't heard anything from RED that we need to update our stuff yet...

Thanks

Dave

Wow, no offense, but these directions are super complicated and time-consuming. I don't have 30 mins to spend right now doing all this crazy stuff to get that Epic importer working.

Any chance you guys could either include Epic support in CS5.5 natively, or make an auto installer? My brain just melted when I read through these 29-step instructions!

Tom, it took me 2 minutes to copy and paste 6 files to 6 folders and have the best r3d support available. I am sure you can do it too!

Yes, easier than it looks. Works great once installed. The Adobe instructions have you copy the original files that are in CS5.5 already into another folder before you copy and paste the new ones. If you skip that it is really fast.
