G'day Red Peeps.

I know this will take up a lot re: space, but is there any chance we can see a 2K version of the whole Crossing The Line short out somewhere to download? I'd really love to see this on a big screen in good quality to see what the Red is capable of in its most stripped down condition?

We're alot here wanting even a little 1k version of the short film, but no reply is sent each time a new topic like this is created ...:umm:

I believe Peter Jackson holds the rights for the shortfilm.
Even if Red want to put it up under "shot on red", I believe that they can't.

I see. But looking in previous topics Jim often explain the idea that the only problem for making available the whole short was due to downloading space ...

A year later, people should stop using CTL to judge what the RED is capable of. Looking at that footage versus what the camera is capable of today... it's rough. The alpha cameras were amazing, but the RED ONE has changed so much since those days that using that footage to judge the camera's current abilities would be like using The Bridge on the River Kwai to judge Kodak's Vision 3 stocks.

Well then we'd like to see some 'cinematic' footage as opposed to 'corporate' footage shot on RED, in any incarnation of the camera.

I can't wait to see Soderberg's footage!

Completely agree. That's why they musn't worry that showing it to the public might in anyway ruin the idea of a projected 4k image. Cos it won't.

But I wonder why we never get an answer on this. i understand that it must be frustrating for them when people are constantly asking about it, but we get frustrated too ... I think ... (just my two cents)

yes but even that footage was on very early models. The fact is that as long as RED continues developing the firmware - we'll never get to see the "current" camera features in action on the big screen (since it can take up to 2 years to produce and distribute a film). Your best bet is to go to a post house and ask to take a look at their red workflow (preferably in their CC theater)...

But I guess what most of us (at least me) would really like to see is the actual CTL short film in full. It's something I've been waiting for, for over a year now heh!

It's not up on the big screen, but if you want to see something more than just an industrial shot with the RED, you should have a look at the trailer Axel posted for Cold Storage.

Now I realize that Axel, and the other profiles associated with this film are slightly more advanced than typical (I'm being sarcastic - they are consummate professionals), but If this is any indication where indie cinema could be headed...wow, we're in for a crazy ride. And he says that a good percentage of this was shot under available light only - in an underground bunker. Wow.

Maybe this doesn´t help, but if you´ve seen the 2+ minutes trailer - you´ve pretty much seen it all. The film was made as a test for the RED camera, and in my opinion, it was awesome to see it projected at 4K at IBC, but as for the story (content) it didn´t give me much more than the trailer.

There is a 2K version of the trailer somewhere, used to be on REDs website, didn´t see it there now, but many people mirrored it, do a search.

CTL is still the first "Shot on RED" project that made me drop on buying one...that was coming from a QT, please PJ let us watch your short!

On another note...Soderbergh's Guerrilla clips were fantastic, the 1st one was shot in anamorphic 2k, great texture, mood, feel, color, cinematography etc...blew my mind. The second one he shot in 4k full frame non anamorphic which looked much sharper (in a good way) and equally amazing but I prefer the softer anamorphic look over it, wonder why he changed up the look on the second picture?

Hey Haskell,

Crossing The Line was played on Maori TV on ANZAC DAY (25 April) in New Zealand. I loved every second of it. It is my best short film so far.

wel i have morethan 100 footage of redone lol collected alot lol

When can we expect trailers or any other cinematic footage then CTL?
I've seen tons of "tests" and stuff from people here, but I would love to see something that's from a big budget production.

Is there any movies that released some trailers or footage of any kind?

Thanks Joseph! We need something like that!

Eirik, I've hear someone saying the same thing about the trailer. Although I'm very grateful to the RED team for showing some more of the short film, it still makes a different from the whole 15 minutes. Now whether the trailer has the best bits of the short it still would be a pleasant thing to watch it in full.
(Apart from the fact the trailer isn't actualy 2.30 mins long. I'd cut around over a minute with the fades and text and the beginning ... but still thanks)
