Hello,

I'm waiting for a Scarlett-W and I hesitate to switch to the Epic-W.
What turns me off is the 8K workflow, it is difficult to use for small cinema productions.
I do not know if it is possible to shoot in 4K RAW Full sensor? That is to say with a 4K REDCODE and the entire sensor (without crop)

Can you bring me the answer?

Thank

no, you can't. Only as ProRes can you get full sensor 4K... not RAW.

Recadrer une photo = crop a photo (not croop) ;)

Always think this way: with Red cameras using RAW, if its a lower resolution than the max. of the camera, it will always be cropped.
When using the 'proxy' feature, you get the full FOV of the resolution you are in.

If you want 4k and the maximum FOV of the camera, you will need to get a Epic-W or CF Weapon. Scarlet-W doesn't have 4k prores/dnxhd, only 2k up to 60fps.

Yeah the only way to get the full FOVat 4K is to shoot 4K Pro Res or DNX. To be honest though if your workflow can handle a 4K, 5K, or 6K R3D workflow, it's not much different to handle 8K. The only downside is storage. The FOV at 6K is useable for sure, I feel like its a better FOV or comparable FOV to the 4K on the Scarlet MX I used to have.

Thank guys for your answers and thanks Andy for "crop"! :) Yes I knew for proxy but I think almost always shoot in RAW, the REDCODE is so incredible: p

Really the 8K REDCODE workflow does not require much more power than that compared to the 5K REDCODE?

Also the problem of storage is important for small productions, just for the purchase of minimag is an investment to take In account .. waiting for a SW helium ?? hahaha

It does require significantly more computing power to work with 8K than it does 5K. It's a LOT more data. If you're worried about it, just go with a Scarlet-W; that's basically a low cost version of an Epic Dragon in a DSMC2 body. And it's not like Dragon is a slouch... or that there's any real need for indies to shoot in 8K right now.
