  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Crimson Workflow is available for download.

Ian.

How about:
Doubleclicking a clip in Crimson triggering that clip to be opened in RA with the correct in and outs, do what you feel neccesary, hit save, close RA and then those adjustments are saved to the clip. THEN if one could copy the settings to prefferred clips or all, things would start to shape up.

But I guess this is not a new thought...

The easier option would of course be if RED let RC save colordata in RC's xml, let Crimson open that and batch in RL, but I guess that's a far cry off...

No real new thoughts here, just thoughts.

I have more than had this thought. A build exists that already does this. I tried to demo it at NAB. But the problem is, it has to script the RA interface to make it work, and interface scripting only works part of the time so you end up with a bunch of partial transactions between Crimson and RA. It's problematic and I decided it would never be releasable. Sorry.

I'm waiting on the SDK, when it comes out I'll give you what you want.

Ian -

Shouldn't you be underwater already shooting build 16!

Get off this forum and get in the water!!!

PS - I miss your camera, we were using it for "don't try this at home" tests!

Crimson 0.9.3 is almost ready Mark. Aren't you excited?

Red 654 is landing here tommorow. I'm excited about shooting some tests and massaging the workflow.

Glad those tests went well, expect my invoice ;)

9.3? holy balls! Where have I been? I missed the 1.0!

To be honest, I am excited that I am on a plane to Nice, France tomorrow for some quality time with my wife and son!

And I am also excited to see footage from the feature you are about to shoot.

Please post footage!!

Rumor has it .... your underwater operator is the master ...

Break a leg Ian - shoot some 4K magic -

I am behind you 100% in all your endeavors!!

Hey Ian

Will this new build of Crimson address some of this wackiness I've been seeing with B16 and the new Redcine beta?

Crimson has been saving my ass left and right.. Once again, thank you for designing it and sharing it with the community

Best of luck on your shoot!

Yes, new version of Crimson... Me want. :)

Does it fix things with Build 16? Is Build 16 that funky with Crimson? I haven't had much time to test anything lately. I've barely shot anything with B16. Oh well, should get to do plenty of shooting and testing this next week.

I shot a 30 second spot with B16. When we loaded it into Crimson, Crimson only matched 3 of the clips. All of the others had to be manually directed.

Also, Redcine wasn't allowing me to color correct some of my shots in the timeline which was odd.

I'm sure this will get better as the days go on..

Richard,

Post the XML that you were using to Match the XML's.

Me, too...

But I guess ian is actually out shooting these days... :)

Yes - Ian's underwater with build 16!

don't you think he should post some footy!!??

Q: Does Build 16 footage in Crimson ???
A: as sure as Jim Jannard smokes cigars!

disclaimer: can't speak for Ian - or when he will release what - but the day RED released the new REDCINE - we were on IM and he had it working on a build on his laptop in the Bahamas ....

I wouldn't know. I'm holding out on 16 untill I have a confirmation it works with Crimson. As far as I understood, there was a FU with the metadata from the build 16 r3d's because of a feature that AVID needed. If that's not true...
