  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cost of Scarlet

I'm sure we will have a shot on Scarlet section at Scarletuser.com.:sifone:

David, did you end up writing this article and if so where can we find it?

Cool, thanks David. :smile5:

Would be interesting to have a read if it does.

Fast reading through this thread, is it true that if I buy the S35 scarlet AND the fixed lens scarlet I get a kit with the fixed which all in all is cheaper then if I only get the s35 and a kit?

People asked and Jim answered that there will be package discounts on configurations for the other models as well as the fixed Scarlet. Maybe more details will come with this month's update announcement.

Don't forget the cost of waiting for a camera and missing out on gigs....

I'm waiting on the camera and still getting gigs. I am using other tools at the moment that, while inferior to the Scarlet, people are still happy with. There isn't anything out in the price range of the Scarlet to even come close to it so its not like there in another option I could dump my money into.

I'd rather get a camera that works, then one rushed out the door that has problems. Would you rather be at a gig and try explaining why your camera has a problem and you can't shoot?

I shoot for fun / myself, I don't make my living with my camera like you, and I'm kind of a tech geek and lunatic.

The problem with the way they did R1 wasn't that it was a public beta, it was that sane people like you weren't really warned that it was a public beta.

I'd love to have a beta Scarlet in my hands. But they'd need to make it clear that it was only for lunatics like me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't do this for a living either and would describe myself VERY similar. I beta test a lot of software and plugins all the time. I too would jump all over being a Scarlet beta tester as well.

That statement was for those who do use this as a means of income. I can certain understand frustration, but at the same time, being an electrical engineer AND actually working in silicon for 15 years, I understand what it takes to manufacturer these sorts of things. They are REALLY pushing the envelope on what exists today. Granted, other companies have now set a new bar for competition, their dates are just dates at this point as well.
