  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Corrupted Frames - Big trouble!

I'm also experiencing the exact same problem with my Scarlet. I'm sure RED will be able to resolve the problem....the trouble is, I may have to send my camera from Australia to the US which means shipping costs? And lost jobs. I'm not trying to paint an ugly picture of RED, but I'm worried about my camera, as well as my reputation. Is it possible that it's only a problem with early models of the Scarlet? Mine was ordered Nov 3rd.

The issue happens with Epics as well as Scarlett's. There seems to be no pattern to serial numbers of cameras affected. The last I heard after my Epic had the issue was that it's thought to be a firmware issue.

When my camera went to Red they were great and organised shipping, I had a small cost with customs this end. It was only a processing fee or something that the government likes to slug us all with.

Also from reading other threads on people suffering corrupt frames, it seems that red is supplying loaner cameras to some so maybe you should see if one can be shipped to you ASAP.

Good luck, Tim

This happened to my Scarlet as well. I sent my Scarlet to Red for repair. I haven't noticed any corrupted frames since receiving my Scarlet from Red. Hopefully this info will help others and I recommend sending your cameras into Red a.s.a.p. if this is happening to your cameras.

Did they tell you what problem your Scarlet had?

They told me that it was an internal part that needed to be replaced. They didn't say exactly what was replaced. They did tell me several times before I sent the camera that it was possibly a firmware issue. I tried three of four different firmwares before I sent it to them. I have to say that dealing with Red tech support when I sent my camera in was nothing but a great experience and the way that they have handled the problem has made me very happy to have chosen the Scarlet as my camera to purchase.
