Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying a happy new year.

I was going through several external drives full of footage I have shot with my Epic and decided to sort through the best stuff and wanted to work out how I can copy the full raw files that I have selected as my best to one destination.
I have clips on several drives and want to maintain the raw file with all associated data etc but move them all to one folder to keep on a drive as my favourite shots.
I know I can transcode my clips and do it that way but I wanted to keep it in its original format, just keeping my best selections from various drives in one safe place.
Anyone have the solution?
I have always been scared to alter any of the file structure that gets copied off my SSD cards.
Thanks for the help.

If you use red cine X, you can export files as R3D files to a new location. You can trim clips so that its just the part you want or export the full clip. Probably your best bet for what you are looking to do. These will keep the original quality of the file.

+1 All the way. We used this strategy when preparing our stock footage library. Very effective and non-destructive.

The R3D files inside their respective folders are self contained so you should be able to move them around as you wish. The Red system is unlike P2 and others that need the file hierarchy to be kept intact.

Cut them all together and trim them in a timeline using FCP, premere or such.
export XML.
import XML and link to footage in RCXP.
export (r3d trimmed) to wanted location.

All the files remain r3d raw, with original meta data and you get all your goodies in one folder with original file names, tc etc.

We do it for every project just to narrow down the source to a "used source" folder. Not wasting space on our server and it keeps discs clean and tidy.
