  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cooke s7/i test

Nice look. It's a lot less effort to make full frame glass I wonder why they are priced more then the S4's. It looks like everybody has a FF set out or coming out.

The price is probably due to the fact that they are putting the same amount of work building these as their other cinema lenses, but are using more physical glass and metal due to size and they don't expect to sell as many units as their S35 glass.

Hard to say the rationale for pricing. I might guess there is diminishing sales after 20k per lens. A lower price should get you more interest and sell more lenses along with lower rental rates.... and therefore have more people using them which begets more sales. Also these Cooke's are on the fragile side of lenses in my experience which means they probably make descent money in the service department. The long game needs to be considered, and cheaper means more sales and more service. These days with so many lens products available in the market Cooke is in a very good position with many of the different needs filled. New "old style/vintage" lenses is an awesome addition that companies have not done..... or Anamorphic, or full frame (with consistent fast aperature). Cooke is killing it right now. Love to see Zeiss step up and do a new "vintage type" lens set. Or a lower end (slower) Anamorphic set, maybe 2.3 and bring the price down to 20k per lens. Those Master Anamorphics are just outa reach.
