  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cooke mini s4 or canon cne? One set of nice glass

Hi Mike,

Nope. Tried CP2s though and also Schneiders CineXenarIII. I use Nkon Ai (s) glass for a softer "vintage" look and EF for a clean look. Not sure if I like to add a third still glass set, I really enjoyed the cine mechanic of the Schneiders but imagewise there was something that spoiled it all when racking focus. Not sure how to say what I´m looking for, the EF glass is nice and clean but kind of lacking soul. But thanks for your input :-)

Cheers,

Ulf

Fransisco,

Glad to hear you love your Mini's!

I own multiple sets and I can't get enough of them either!

Used Cooke Zooms (20-100 and 25-250 and older Angenieux 25-250 t3.9 lenses look quite nice on a Red.. but are pretty much 4k to 4.5k coverage at best on wide side.

The mini S4s are nice lenses. I've shot often with the S4s and the minis look pretty damned close to an S4 at 2.8. I've had them on several shows with great results. One nice thing about the Cooke look is the gradual softening in out of focus areas.

I had a set of nikkor ais older ones as well as some nikkor H which I actually prefer. I still love them but theres def some mojo in these cookes that I love. excited to get them test out with some light this weekend.
