  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A testament to the RED workflow!

Hey guys,

I'm a little apprehensive about posting my work on this forum due to the incredible things that get posted here. This project can hardly even be considered a project. One lens, a 30 minute shoot, handheld, no lighting, and less than an hour of post production. Premiere Pro edit with R3d's - XML to Resolve - Finished in AE. When this kind of image can be put up in less than 2 hours work the possibilities are limitless. I'm for sure drinking the kool aid :yesnod:

...and you didn't even crack open RCX.

I really like the subtle orange gradients against the desaturated image. Plus, all those people on the forums selling off their Canon 24-70s because they are 'soft' need to take a long hard look at this piece to see what just a touch of sharpening in post can do.

You don't have to shoot everything on Zeiss, Leicas, or Red Pro Primes (although that would be choice).

Great job!

Nope I set the white balance to 5000K during shooting and then in resolve changed to redlogfilm. Never even touch RCX on this one :) I am finding that trusting the histogram is keeping my exposures almost spot on. Very little balancing other than stretching the blacks and whites in Resolve. Yeah I too have read about people getting rid of the 24-70's. While I hate the size and weight of it the sharpness is very acceptable to me. This piece is even a bad example of it as I was handholding and shooting pretty wide open. There are a few spots though where you can see the true resolution of it. As far as my testing goes my 50mm 1.2 and 100mm Macro are razor sharp on EPIC. I'm glad I hung on to my canon glass!

Your personal "Tree of Life". Really, really enjoyed this. Keep drinking and making the Kool Aid!

Man thank you so much guys! This means a great deal to me as I have seen all of your guys work. I can see why people claim the RED world is a family :)

Can't see a link on my iPad.. Can you write it out?

Matt, it's beautiful, gorgeous work ! You're talented. :)

Love the dog with the deer antlers... Very cute..

Beautiful. What flavor Koolaide?

Beautiful Matt. Watched it twice. That shot of your boys feet rising through the frame is stunning.
Funny, how like you say, it was fast, unplanned etc... but if the visual storytelling is strong enough, a piece cam light up the screen and transport you.

Best Wishes

Lliam

You can quote the post in order to see the link... I'm on iPad too. :)

And you can also choose "Thread tools" up top and select "Show printable version" Works perfect!

Hardest part about it is, finding out that there is supposed to be a link in the first place ;) Not every post clearly shows that :D

Matt, this looks great. Makes me want to have an EPIC so bad....even though most times the 300fps would probably end up for the fun of it,
there's so many great uses to it, too... sigh! I guess I'll have to stick with 48fps for awhile... sniff

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm pretty sure the flavor of koolaid is RED :) Again I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a group like this. The RED family is strong!
