  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

CINEON HD 6500K?

CINEON HD 6500K?

I noticed that you state a K value of 6500K for your CINEON HD 6500K LUT it seems?

If I convert CINEON FILM data to CINEON HD 6500K through your LUT does the white point move, that is since white for film is 5500K and the CINEON FILM data values would be for an 18% Gray card Red=470, Green=470, Blue=470, would the data values no longer be balanced neutral and equal in the CINEON HD 6500K files made, such as RED=460, GREEN=470, BLUE=480? (18% what mid-tone codes do you use for CINEON HD 6500K? (as you know D-LAD 445 is not 18% mid-tone code value))

If so, would that not make the clips points also hit the data in un-equal balance making both black and white unbalanced, and if rather than linear gain adjustments, you unbalance with curves, you then get un-equal color shifts from black to white so that black and white are balanced and mid-tones are unbalanced?

Dan remember that these data are not coming from scanned film... so they are already something other than D55 or D65... the data are whatever the user will say they are, in the debayering tab... so the point is irrelevant... also the LUT's I create are targeted to have the correct white point of the i.e. sRGB or DCP XYZ... so yes the LUT converts everything.

Other LUT's that I create do what you say. But when that happens is correct for the purpose.
