  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

Another question on the RedMote:

How will the RedMote work in regards to electronic glass such as the Fixed and the upcoming Red FF35 glass?

Having control of the electronic glass via the RedMote could make stereo applications even easier. :}

At the top left corner of the pic, there is a mount (I am assuming it is a mount) that has the numbers 2,3 and 4. What is that telling us?

I'm most curious about those red and white-tipped cables. What are they, and what are they connecting to? That doesn't look like a brain, nor does it have the standard connections of the modules we've seen.

Any chance this Redmote operates on Wifi? And if so is there any chance we can offload stills over wifi? After all Eye-Fi fits a wifi antenna/card inside of an SD card for $150. Surely you can find a few mm of space inside a $20k camera for a little wifi right? :D

I hope that RedMote has a lanyard loop. I'm sure people will want to be hanging that around their neck so they don't set it down and lose it. (Remember we're all A.D.D.)

Exciting stuff overall. Great work.

Will the remote display what the camera is shooting or just camera controls?

Assuming here - only camera controls, as to display what is being shot, well I again assume the price point would be astronomical. Development time too.

Oh, and not to mention it's illegal to broadcast video w/o a license (yes, I know we do it all the time on set...)

RED for power, WHITE for data?

It looks like those cables might be connected to the front of the brain, with the lens extending over the top of the Gunner where the numbers 4, 3, 2, are marked. Not sure what they do, looks really interesting.

Here is my prediction: It's an extender/bridge module.

Those module interconnects don't look at all like they're the sort of ports I would expect a cable to run from. So what they'll be selling are two adapter plates that bridge power and data. Then you buy the length of cable you require.
