  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks Patrick! In terms of the shoot, the concept was finalized a day before I flew out, took a day to shoot, day to write script/edited so a quick turn-around.

Just me on the shoot. No lighting either. Was very run-n-gun which played into the organic look I was going for. I used the 35,50 and 85 lenses. I had to pack VERY small, since I flew into a tiny airport with 1 gate. haha

I graded with piece with Color Finale (a new plugin releasing next week) from directly within FCPX.

very well put together even if it was not a one man thing - Simple and very effective - Good job.! - Love the look as well - I have a Contax 50mm which I use with a Rokinon Set and its always my favourite lens.

Thanks Nick. That's what I figured. Luckily I managed to get some lovely stuff with it before it died on me and the Director is going to get it sorted.

I just got my 35, 50, and 85 MM speeds back from Dulcos, awesome, highly recommended

I need that 21... :)
 
I just I bought a 50mm 1.7 and the contrast is pretty low which I like, so I bought the 28mm 2.8 thinking they'd match pretty well but it turns out the 28 I got is way more contrast-y. Testing it against one of my Canon EF lenses it seems to be just as much if not slightly more contrast. Threw me off a bit.. is this a know thing with the 28? Love them both but I'd like to have a set that matches closer and don't know if my 50 or 28 is the odd man out.

close down the 50 a little and it should match the 28 nicely.

the faster lenses (let's call them superspeeds) change quite a bit in just a few stops, it gives you fantastic creative control.

Nice Roy. These low contrast lenses have saved me quite a few times in the past. Contax ftw...ALWAYS! hehe
 
Hoping someone can help me here. I'm ordering gear rings for all my contax glass, and I'm also buying for the lenses that I don't own yet but are on the "buy soon" list. Thus, I need measurements of the widths of the gear rings for two lenses on that list so that when I eventually do acquire them, I will have the gear rings waiting for them. Anyone have the following two lenses and don't mind taking a minute to give me the measurements from the start to the end of the little spikes of the focus ring?

Contax 21mm F2.8 MM
Contax 135mm F2.0 MM (NOT the anniversary version and NOT the F2.8 version please)

This is what I mean. The 60mm F2.8 macro in this case would have a focus ring area width of 40mm.

Chris - I genuinely believe you represent the future of television...and content. You are a superbly talented editor...not just in incredibly gifted DP (and MoVi OP to boot). You are a true triple threat. At this point...I put nothing past you.

The 21mm MM gear ring is 44mm long
